Hope so that all of you will be good and happy and enjoying your good health with the grace and blessings of Almighty Allah. I have completed my Stage 01 in the Hive Learner community that was all about my introduction. So, now I am going to move toward the Stage 02 of the community. There are two tasks of this stage and the first one is Security on the Hive Blockchain and Understanding Hive Keys. So, let's start our task without any wastage of time.
There are some questions that are asked in this task. I will explain all of them with my complete understanding as follows.
How much do you know about the security keys of Hive?
As we all know that security and privacy is the basic need of everybody in the daily life. All of the people try to make them so secure and private that no one can know their affairs and dealings. Especially, when concerned with the money or savaings, we try to be more and more private and secure. So, the same is the same is the case in the Hive Blockchain.
Hive platform is a well rewarding platform and it has developed a very unique system to protect the rewards of the users. There are private keys in the Hive platform that allow the users to access their assets as well access their account to perform various activites. Only the owner of those security keys can access the wallet as well as the account to perform activities. These keys are actually known as the Security Keys of Hive.
Do you have enough idea about the importance of these keys?
Yes, I am well aware about the importance of these security keys. These keys are actually like the keys that are used to unlock the locks in our daily life. These keys are of great importance in the Hive platform.
The security keys of Hive are used to access the Hive account and Hive wallet. These keys are given to us while creating the Hive account. These keys are actually the surety of the ownership of the wallets and accounts on Hive. Without these keys, the respective account is wasted.
Do you know how to locate security keys of Hive?
Yes, Offcourse, I know how to locate the security keys of Hive. The following steps are adopted to locate these keys.
- First of all, open the wallet by clicking on the Wallet option in your Hive profile.
- Now, click on the Keys and Permissions option in the wallet.
- Now, you will be able to locate all the keys. You can view all the keys by clicking on Reveal option present below each key (Active, Posting, Memo, Owner).
So, this is the way to locate all the security keys of the Hive platform.
What are the functions/permissions of each keys and function?
There are actually four keys that are available in the PDF that is provided to us while signing up the Hive platform. The function of each key is explained in details.
- Private Posting Key:
The first key that is available in the PDF is the posting key. This key is used to perform the activities on the Hive platform like posting, commenting, upvoting, downvoting, rebloging the others posts, editing the posts, muting the users, follow the others.
- Private Active Key:
Another important key that is available in the PDF is the private active key. This key is used to perform the wallet-related activities like transferring funds to other wallets and exchanges, converting HBD to Hive token, powering up the Hive Power, creating orders on exchanges, powering down the Hive, etc.
- Private Owner Key:
Another important key is the Private Owner Key that is used to reset the posting and active keys. This key is also used to block the voting systems and recover the account.
- Private Memo Key:
Another key is the private memo key that is used to send and recieve the encrypted or private messages. These private messages can not be viewed without the memo key.
What measures have you taken to keep your keys safe?
From the above all discussions it can be seen that the security keys of the Hive blockchain are very much important and it is the basic requirement to save these keya safe and secure to survive on the Hive platform. I have also make some important measures to save these keys.
First of all, I have kept all the keys in the form of hard copy in my room.
I also have saved the PDF of these keys in the Google Drive to avoid any loss.
I have also saved all the keys in the form of documents in the mobile phone as well as the computer.
