Magical Hoarfrost Winter Wonderland in Upper Austria

On the first day of January some Years ago i went on a special Photography trips with friends on wich we decided to take some winter pictures with the hoarfrost that has built up over the night and transformed the whole landscape in a magical winter wonderland. The Hoarfrost built up really great big cristalls and everything looked just so amazing. I hope I will have a similar situation soon but I am afraid I won't expierience such a beauty again. It was such a perfect day with a lot of fog the days before and also freezing cold but without any snow just the hoarfrost setting down on anything and transforming everything into such a bautiful winter wonderland. We were a group of people who met at a a lake near Linz and then we did a photography walk together through the winter wonderland. When I took a look at the pictures today again I was amazed by their beauty, especially the first 2 pictures in this blog post are pleasing to my eye today.

I really like how the colorfull ground of the grass and the leaves on the foor contrast to the trees and plants covered in white hoarfrost. The lake on the second picture also looks so peacefull and calm. Eventhough it was freezing cold, we stayed there in the cold for several hours, yes we were walking and moving but still it was very cold this day. I hope I will still have a day like this during this ongoing winter. Not so wet and cold like today. Cold is ok, but if cold then please -10 degrees or so. Around 0 degrees celsius like we have today makes everything so unpleasing. No snow no ice and if you find some then it looks dirty, black and grey.

The first picture here reminds me somehow on a drawing that a famous artist could draw. I like the combination of the small creek with the red and brown colors from autumn and the white hoarfrost on the trees. The colors are somehow concentrated on the bottom part of the picture and the more up you get the more white it gets because of the hoarfrost in the trees. Also that there is still the dark brown trees visible make it pleasing to the eye, at least I think so.

The second picture here with the warmer foreground and the very cold background is also very interesting. I have to admit that I increased the saturation a bit so it get a bit more interesting but I am pretty happy about the result.
