PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography #32 : A hidden gem in Buenos Aires – Chacarita Cemetary

These photos were taken at the Chacarita cemetary in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This cemetery is the resting place for many of Argentineans. Anyone can choose to be burried here. You don't have to be wealthy or have had a high position in society. If you would like a place among famous people like actors, artist or entertainers, this is the place. The whole area looks like a city where we could walk the streets lined with monumental graves. They vary in size and how they are decorated with figures and details. Chacarita is located not far from the city center. Since we were staying in the district of Palermo, we were in walking distance to the cemetery. First photo is my entry to @photofeed contest @photofeed/photofeed-contest-cityscape-photography-round-32

Last time I was in Buenos Aires, I visited the Recoleta Cemetery, which is famous, because of being the final resting place of some ot the most famous Argentinans. Many former presidents (26 of them) politicians and the beloved First Lady Evita / Eva Peron are burried there. It is one of the most beautiful cemeteries that I have seen, but Chacarita was just as beautiful. The way this cemetery is built up with streets, large mausoleums, trees etc., it's very similar to Recoleta. Famous Argentines are also buried here. Only, it's not former presidents, politicians and military, but famous singers, tango dancers etc. I looked at the names of some of them, but since I'm not familier with Argentina's music world, it didn't tell me much.
