Creepy Goings On in Sherwood Forest: The Krampus Run is here!

While we visited Sherwood Forest in Nottingham, the Krampus Run group was there. The event was about the legend of Krampus, a half-goat, half-demon figure who punishes naughty children at Christmas. They also hold
other pagan winter solstice festivities, such as this one.

I believe the origins of Krampus lie in Switzerland, southern Germany, and western Austria. However, this group is from Whitby in Yorkshire, UK!

Their costumes were weird, wonderful and beautiful if you like that sort of thing. At least on a cold day they kept warm.

Apparently, they run through the trees, getting rid of evil spirits from the forest and looking for places to hibernate.

Let's just say they made an interesting visit. There had been high winds forecast but thankfully, the event managed to go ahead.
