It's been a mostly dry and reasonably mild week, at least nearing on double figures which has been a change from the freezing weeks previous. I have been for my Moderna Covid booster Jab tonight, given the whole of the UK has been told to get a booster quick because the Omnicron varient is running right - 88,000 cases today a new record for cases - the vaccination site at Jacobs Well in Bradford was very busy, with a good half hour queue to get yourself stabbed in the arm. And that's after pre-booking it online!
It is of course getting close to Christmas, and while the UK remains lockdown free - just with Plan B measures of mask wearing in retail outlets and an advice to work from home if you can - the Hospitality trade is understandably feeling aggrieved, with no financial protection because there is no official Lockdown - Christmas parties are cancelling in masses as the press scares the public into a self imposed lockdown state - with Christmas day so close nobody wants to miss seeing family and friends on the big day because they are self isolating.
It's all getting decidedly messy and at work we have seen a big drop in the volume orders from cafe's and restaurants this week - as their trade dwindles when it should be booming. An official lock down can not be far off, although I am sure it will be held off until after Christmas day at least.
While commercial trade might have dipped a little, retail orders are still going crazy with another bumper weekend of orders for roasted coffee. So we have still been crazy busy roasting coffee all week, just less volume for commercial clients and more small batches for home users. The original 5kg roaster is still banging out the roasts every day, we have been so busy I could not risk disconnecting the gas to fit the new yellow peril and then not have a gas engineer to hook it up. So that's now a job during our shutdown between Christmas and New Year.
So with a slightly achey arm from the Covid booster, I think some classic 90's dance music fits the bill quite nicely. Enjoy.
More snow is on the way after this mild break, they even hint we might see a bit of a white Christmas - although it's more likely to arrive between Christmas and New Year.
The new Ethiopian I get in - all 2.4 tonnes of coffee, is proving popular already so here is a sneak peak of the new gift bag for it.
And another new entry, Kenya AA Blue Mountain is always super popular - I'm slowly trying to up my bag label game but it's a bit of a struggle - you need graphic design talent to make beautiful labels and I'm just not on that talent list. These are so new I have not even listed them on the website yet, these were part of a gift box I did for a long standing customer - if my arm doesn't ache too much I might even upload them tonight.
