Coffee from Korea… again! Let’s see if this time it’s gonna be better tasting!

Hey, coffee lovers… how are you? It’s Saturday and it is the perfect time to enjoy some good coffee in peace, without hurrying at all. The last weeks are incredibly busy in my work and in the weekdays I don’t have mich time to enjoy my morning cup of coffee.

So… let’s dive into some specialty coffee that was delivered from South Korea. But where did I get the coffee from?

My wife’s sister lives in Sourh Korea and she comes back to Bulgaria once every one or two years. She knows how passionate we are about coffee and she wanted to bring us some specialty beans from there.

She sent us the website of the Coffee Happy roasters and we decided that this Costa Rica coffee would fit our taste best.

The last time when Mimi brought is coffee from
Seoul it was a bit dark roasted, which as you may know is not ideal for us. We definitely enjoy light roasts a lot better, but I think it is the general consumer prefetence in Korea to enjoy darker roasts more. And now we were curious how this coffee was roasted.

Surprise! These beans were relatively lighter roasted… so far so good! I decided that this coffee would fit quite good the V60. Lately I don’t brew filter coffee that often. It is an espresso or cold brew almost all the time.

Speaking of aroma, it is quite fruity and enjoyable. Definitely a coffee that fits the preferences of me and my wife. No harsh aromas! I have a good feeling about these beans so far.

Water at 88 degrees, and go!

Time to enjoy my cup on the terrace. Mornings are the only time when I can enjoy my coffee there, because afyer 9-9:30 it just becomes way too hot…

The coffee is very pleasing and tastes very balanced. It lacks the wow effect, but doesn’t feel ordinary too. On mouth we have a lot of berry sweetness amd little acidity, which is here to balance the overal taste. I like it a lot and this is maybe the ultimate everyday coffee.

You may now think that this post was too short… no, wait a minute! There is more!

With the Costa Rica coffee we received another coffee too. It was just a sample, but I was excited about it too. Here it is! Ethiopia Mocha Yegrachev!

And it is a drip dose coffee. I have seen this type of coffee in posts that my Japanese friends piblish, but never have the chance to try one. It is like my lucky day now!

I wasn’t very sure how to brew this coffee, but I think that on the bag it was written 150 ml of water at about 90-92 degrees centigrade. This feels like a good recipe, but how do I pour the water? How to divide the portions… That was gonna be an experiment. Maybe three pours with a total extraction time of 2-3 minutes?

One little drawback is that the paper becomes quite soft when meets the hot water, but as we know the paper is relatively ecological.

Two and a half minutes later and 150 ml of water in, the coffee is ready.

The taste is okay, but the Cosya Roca coffee is a lot better. Ethiopian coffee wins in the convenience category, being very easy to brew. You need only your cup of coffee and some hot water. Enjoying a cup of tasty coffee in just 2 minutes.

The experience of brewing this was interesting, but… Costa Rica is definitely the coffee for me. As I mentioned, the perfect everyday coffee.

That’s all for today. Wish you a pelasant weekend and many happy coffee moments.

See you soon! Bye!
