So Hivers an interesting way to waste a couple of hours on a Saturday morning and the result of a chance post on Facebook this morning when I noticed that there would be a food festival in Dawlish which is a small seaside town about 8 miles away from Newton Abbot.
As food festivals go it wasn’t a huge event with probably around 60 stalls, mostly local producers but some really quirky outlets with something for every taste. From Chillis to waffles and everything in between.
One the subject of chillis this was certainly one of the more colourful stands. With loads of different verity’s.
There were also plenty of stands cooking lunch if you fancied something exotic.
So what did @millyc1976 and I have for lunch? Coffee and a cake at Le Cygne.
It’s a small French patisserie and coffee shop certainly one of my local favourites. It has expanded over the years and now has a Deli after taking over the shop next door. Cost wise it‘s a little more expensive than the average cafe in Dawlish but the quality is amazing and worth paying a little extra.
The Lemon Cheesecake was superb and really tangy just the way it should be. I expect @millyc1976 will update you all on her lemon drizzle cake at some stage.
So feeling refreshed after the coffee and cake it was time for a little shopping. But what to get with so much on offer.
For starters an few small bottles of Truffle Oil the perfect thing to liven up a pasta dish or splash a few drops in the air fryer to posh up the humble sausage and mash.
Lastly a couple of tangy spreads great adding a bit of zing to cheese and biscuits my goto choice for an evening snack.
All in all a very present morning and some great inspiration for future cooking ideas. With the bonus of making it back to the car before the rain started.
