Social Media - The Fun Struggle Of What's Real & What's Fake

I wanted to say I don't think I've ever written much about social media and it's impact in my life but I remembered "Discord, Hive, WhatsApp" are all in the category of social media. Social media is a world of it's own, more like it has a totally different set of people from the ones we have in the real world.

I'm happy to say not much about me on social media is different from who I am in reality but let the truth be told, social media has more lies and fakes than the reals. I think it is the main con of social media, you better not believe just anything you find on them for your mental, physical, financial and most importantly, your psychological health.

The cons are there but to me, I've experienced great impacts from social media that I can not ignore it's pros because of the cons. I believe nothing is bad but how it is being used could be bad. Whether it is those who post contents on social media or it is those who search and imitate these cintents, once abuse is introduced into it, the cons are born.

Categorizing WhatsApp, discord and Hive into social media makes it even a greater impact in my live positively. With social media, almost nothing is impossible to learn nowadays. I go Tiktok, YouTube and some other sites I find to search for new hacks, recipes, fashion wears and a lot of other new knowledge. These things have helped me grow in many ways.

But I won't hide the fact that there are some contents or searches I come across that don't make me feel little or unsatisfied with myself. Of course, I don't dwell on such thoughts but I'm pointing it out to be one of the cons of social media, people share fake realities and those in the real think they are not doing any better when they watch these people.

It's a world of the fake looking real and the real looking fake and so the struggle to figure out which is which and how to use the result to our own benefits. I say it is a fun struggle for me because over the years, I've benefited more from social media than the bad side and that is because I've learned to know what could be real and what could be fake so I don't fall prey to what isn't even directed to me.

If I could take out the cons of social media, I wouldn't. Why? Because it is just impossible, people will always abuse something and that is what we should find a way to limit. Social media isn't where one should put a focus on but rather, it should be a world you go in to learn and take advantage of the Pros (information you could get) in it and get back to your reality to live better not worser.

This is my entry to the September Inleo Prompt Challenge with Day 11 focus on "Pros and Cons of social media in your life". Don't know what to write on Hive today? You're invited to participate in the challenge.
