It's Friday! Although here we almost had a long weekend because yesterday was a holiday, it was Columbus Day or whatever it is called now. This morning, I went on my usual hike. And as I said in my previous post, it doesn't matter if it's the same place, nature always surprises us.
This time thanks to a change of route we found a lot of fungi along the way. Here we are not used to going out to see or pick mushrooms, I guess because of our tropical weather. But the rains and the heat this year have not been normal, and maybe that or that now with age I am more attentive to some details but this morning while walking I thought, cool! this could be my first Friday joining the #fungifriday challenge.
The first one we saw was a run-over fungus. And I say literally run-over because it was most likely crushed by a bicycle wheel. On these trails, people come to ride bicycles. And this yellow fungus was on a bend in the trail. We had already seen it a couple of days ago...
And it looked like this.
I noticed it alone in the bend, took the pics, and then came home looking to find out what kind of fungus it was. According to Google Lens, it was a Yellow Amanita. The experts in this community will correct me if I'm wrong.
And if it was of that variety, I read that they are poisonous.
But returning to our morning walk, a little further from the run-over mushroom, the husband suggested that we change the route at a fork in the trail. I said yes since the alternate route was more wooded and it was so hot. We had never taken it, but those trails always end up at the same point.
I immediately noticed that there was a lot of fungi on the trail, not the typical fungus that we can see around here that grows on the bark of the trees.
I read that they were another variety of Amanita.
There were many on the edge of the trail among the dry leaves on the ground.
I took a lot of pictures of the fungi.

I liked this trail, is a little longer than the one we usually take, but less steep, and perfect for hot days like today to get some protection from the sun with the shade of the trees.
I loved the orange color of this one.
And this was the biggest one we saw.
A little hidden behind a tree branch.
So our walk today was a little slower than usual but a lot of fun.
