It should have been illegal for Jesus to be in hell, because He was without sin, but He went to Hell in our place. Colossians 2:15 captures how He engaged Satan in that awful combat in hell and defeated him and all the cohorts of darkness: “And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.”

I can imagine what Jesus went through in hell, it was really a horrible experience.
Yes, Jesus went to hell, I know someone might be shocked to hear this.
(What does “he ascended” mean except that he also descended to the lower, earthly regions?

Lower, earthly regions here - means hell
Jesus did all of this for Mankind. He did it all for you.
WHEN MAN SIN, HE WAS SEPARATED FROM GOD.
Remember, that incident that occurred in the Garden of Eden, man got a separation from the one who created him. That was horrible!
The question is, HOW WAS MAN ABLE TO LIVE WITHOUT GOD? Life without God is really a big mess. The devil can decide to take away that man anytime he wants.
Sickness, poverty, infirmities, disease can have their way into that man. All the fiery darts of the wicked can easily have access to that man. Man was really in an horror when he got a separation from God.
NOW THE GOODNEWS
Oh Thanks be to God, God's love for man was really unfathomable. He never left man helpless. He still sought out a solution for man to return back to Him.
The Bible says,
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
1 John 4:9 NIV
He said that man might live through Jesus.
What a good news. God doesn't want us to die, he wants us to live a good life, that's why he sent Jesus for our sake.
And the one who believes and accept Jesus will have and enjoy life to the full.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 NIV
If you've not being born again, I want you to know that God loves you so much. And the only mean the scripture tells us to be born again is when you believe in the one God sent (Jesus Christ).
And to be born again mean you Confess the Lordship of Jesus Christ over your life, He becomes the Lord of your Life.
And if you'd love to be born again, I want you to say the prayer of Salvation Below;
"DEAR LORD GOD, I BELIEVE WITH ALL MY HEART IN JESUS CHRIST, I BELIEVE YOU RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD, I CONFESS WITH MY MOUTH THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE LORD OF MY LIFE FROM THIS DAY. I DECLARE THAT I AM BORN AGAIN, I AM NOW A CHILD OF GOD. AMEN"
