Couple of days ago, we got a news on cyclone heading towards Pakistan & India. Our Government took precautionary measures and with the help of Meteorological Department, worked well to point out the expected red zone areas where this cyclone could strike and evacuated almost 80000 people to the safe place. Karachi is one the busiest city and its sea view area is all time favorite for people, you never see that place empty but not until now. Sea view and restaurants were closed for the public, roads going to sea view were blocked and under high alert. Even the residents of sea view were offered to move to safe place for couple of days until this alarming situation is over.
According to our Meteorological people or the ones who knows weather forecast well, cyclone is turning and changing its direction and is not a threat to Karachi however, it would be going closely which would have its effects in terms of heavy rain and winds. Still a threat is roaming around and spreading all over the social media and around the people of Karachi.
I got a call from my eldest bro, just checking on whats going on and advised everyone not to go outside or leave home. Well, I cannot just take off from my work because of this issue but will take care and make sure to take precautionary measures in the situation of heavy rain. In the morning, it was too humid and too hot, dust all around, looks like we were in a desert safari. The temperature was indicating that we are going to have rain soon but the clouds were not that much in the morning.
When there is a threat in your head, you definitely overthink for anything and predict too much, well, its better to have cons and pros and have readymade plan for any situation. When my friend came to pick me for office, it was too windy and I told him that you are safe because I am sitting behind you, heavy weight champion lol or else you would be having difficulty in riding due to 55km/hour wind.
When we start working in A/C room we just forget about whats going on in the world. That is so true. When we had a lunch break, we all went to the rooftop. Before leaving to the rooftop, I checked on google weather and it shows thunderstorm at around 2 pm. We were at the rooftop of our office building at 1:45 pm. Wind was slapping and dragging everything from here and there. Clouds were all over the sky. It was too dusty as well, shoppers were flying in the air. I forgot to take my cell phone up there with me so, I took my colleague’s cell phone Iphone 13 and captured the surroundings. We experienced a bit of shower with the wind and that was it for the day.
Cyclone is about 350 km away from Karachi but its effects were clearly seen on 13th June. Clouds were ruling the sky and it was too windy and dusty all over the city. Predictions to witness some heavy rains on 15th or 16th June. Lets hope for the best and hope that we Pakistan & India get through this cyclone without having any major damage to our countries.
