Turtley enough for the Turtle Club

This is an ancient turtle from the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology. It is called Basilemys (king turtle in Greek), the largest turtle known in ancient Alberta. It inhabited North and Central America 77–75.5 million years ago. Its behaviors has been described as similar to those of most tortoises, as it lived in terrestrial habitats while consuming trough plants. Partial specimens have been found in the Alberta and Saskatchewan badlands. The most well preserved specimens are of the carapace, which is the hard upper shell of the turtle.
