Paraguay es un país en el que decimos que solo hay dos estaciones: la del ferrocarril y el verano, y es por ese calor constante y agobiante que nuestros ancestros inventaron una bebida refrescante y energizante, que es el Tereré.
Esta bebida no contiene alcohol, por lo que todos pueden beberla en cualquier momento y lugar. De hecho, es tan tradicional en Paraguay, que la mayoría acude hasta a sus lugares de trabajo con su equipo de tereré.
También es usual formar rondas de tereré para hacer una pausa en la jornada, en las que amigos, compañeros de trabajo o familiares se reúnen y lo comparten.
Y es durante estas rondas de tereré, que los extranjeros no deben decir gracias si es que les gusta cuando devuelven la "guampa" ya que esta palabra es como una clave que significa que ya no se desea beber más, por lo cual se lo saltará en las siguientes rondas.
Pero ahora querrán saber qué es el Tereré, verdad? Pues bien, es una bebida fría a base de agua, al menos el que se bebe en Paraguay, a la que se le agregan yerbas medicinales, y se sirve en un vaso llamado "guampa" que está cargado con yerba mate 🧉 y cuenta con un bombilla para sorver el líquido.
