Eureka! That moment in life in which we are seeking for something and out of the blue boom! It's pops ringing an idea to us to achieve our aim. I'm sure most great men in the world today must have had a Eureka! that changed their life. I was once told a great story by one of my uncle in the village.
The Eureka! That Changed The Life Of A Boy Changed The World
In a distant village called Ade-jembe, there was a boy who loves to help people. Juwon was very hardworking and respectful. In addition to that, he was very intelligent. He surpassed his peer group in every aspect. Everyone loves him dearly for the help he render to them.
Juwon is often regard as a "Jack of all trade". He helps on repair of pipeline, bicycle and so on. But there was something his village lacked which is electricity. Adejembe was lit up by the oil lamps at night, this was for those that could afford the exorbitant price of the oil.
Juwon was very sad about this because his mother was one of those who could not afford to buy oil for the lamp, since his father died five years ago. Every night, juwon always ponder on this issue. On this particular night, as juwon was on the rafia mat thinking he remember what he read in one of his science book in his school about energy he thought about the electrical energy but put that aside as there were no equipments to work. When he remembered the hot weather in his village shout the Eureka! and then he settled for the solar energy
The next day, Juwon went to tell the richest man in the village about the idea and the equipments he would need. The man had faith in Juwon and promised to buy all the equipment he mentioned on his next travel to Lagos. After a week the men called upon Juwon and gave him the materials. Juwon was very excited and thankful.
Juwon set out to work immediately, he went round the village counting the number of houses and mapping out spots to place the connections. Fortunately, his village was a very small village, there was twenty seven houses in total.
He decided to place the big solar panels in the center of the village. It took Juwon three weeks of hard work, thanks to the people who saw the importance of his work and surrendered themselves assist him. The day the job was completed, it was announced that the opening of the work would take place tomorrow and that everyone should be present.
The next day, Juwon was anxious and excited he prayed over night for his work not to be in vain. The time came and the square was filled to the brim with people far and near. The honour was given to Juwon to switch the panel on. He switched it on and the bulbs he had placed at each house turned on. There was excitement in the crowd and everybody sang Juwon's praise. Juwon had brought electricity through solar energy.
After five days, the news of a 16 year old boy that brought electricity to the his village went viral in country and abroad. Juwon was given a scholarship to study abroad and to move there with his family.
Till today even as Juwon no longer resides in the village the people of Ade-jembe still remember who brought electricity to their village.
