I LIKE TO WATCH #24 - Knock Down The House

Ready for your viewing pleasure, it's time for another selection of the best films I've ever seen. What's surprised me is that I'm coming up on 25 of these, and the time is just flying as I approach my fourth year on the blockchain.

We were given an assignment due today about a documentary we were asked to watch. Afterwards, we were tasked with writing a report about what we saw. When I was done and had uploaded my assignment, YouTube recommended the next video. With nothing left to do for the day, I decided to watch it. The name of the documentary was Knock Down The House.

This Netflix production follows the path blazed by four strong women running for office in 2018. One of them is a young waitress by the name of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, better know now as "AOC." The other progressive candidates running for change are: Cori Bush, Paula Jean Swearengin and Amy Vilela. We all know how these races turned out, but it's revealing to get an insider's look at the very real situations that shaped the decisions of each of these brave women to take on establishment candidates.

The doc is surprisingly emotional as well, as we see the struggles each has to go through in their run for office. No matter what you think of AOC, it took guts to take on a well-known incumbent with no name-recognition and almost no money in the bank. Seeing them knocking on doors and handing out campaign literature, gives us a taste of how much effort it takes to translate into actual votes. After watching this doc, you'll never look at politics the same way again.

Recent developments for a few of those running, will turn some of those frowns upside down. Seeing the real lives behind the public persona, allowed us to connect with the real issues highlighted in this film. This is a powerful documentary that you can add to your collection. So take some time and watch as these women attempt to Knock Down The House.

Thank You So Much!
