The ONE Feature I'd Like to see on HIVE

Those of us who care for this platform and want to see it grow, have been exploring ideas to do just that. We'd all like more eyeballs on our posts and to see our following count grow along with our crypto stash. From ideas on marketing for Hive and Leofinance, to promoting our tribes on social media, the quest continues to attract new people to our corner of the blockchain.

However there's one thing missing that might actually help with that endeavor, something that other platforms have, yet we don't. Now part of it is due to the decentralized nature of what we've built and the culture that this community was founded on. So I don't know if this is something we'll ever see here, but I would like to share some ideas of features I'd like to see added in a future update.

Location, location, location

One of the things I've always wondered about, is where my audience is coming from. When I first began blogging, I'd always check my analytics to see which countries were sending me the most visitors. It was surprising to see which spots on the globe were sending me the most traffic and some of them were places I'd never even considered.

I'd love to see the breakdown on Hive of just the country level (or the state in the case of the US.). It would be illuminating if I found out that a third of my audience hailed from say, France or somewhere else that might surprise me. At first, I may wonder why, and then would begin tailoring some of my content for them in order to increase my overall readership.

Top 10

Twitter has a nice feature that tells you what your top tweet was over the last 30 days. It'd be nice to see a report of my top ten posts that attracted the most traffic over the past month. That way, I could recognize patterns. If most of my top 10 for last month were posts about personal finance, with visitors from the UK, I could focus on creating more of that type of content for that region. I might be wrong, but I thought there was a little site counter on the post pages of that other place on the blockchain before it disappeared. This is something that could be a useful too for content creators.

Yes, I know, upvotes are a signal of interest in your posts, but they only measure other bloggers that like your work. I'd be willing to bet there is a hidden "Google audience" That finds our content from the search engine, that we never even know about. "John Doe" blogger, had 2500 upvotes in March, yet there were 3000 other impressions that came from outside Hive, Leofinance, ProofOfBrain, CTP, etc. We might find that a subject that was trending in May, has faded by July outside of the support shown on the blockchain. This way, we might know it's time to pivot content-wise, in order to keep that "shadow audience" that I'm convinced we have.

So if you find out that 63% of your audience is from Melbourne, Australia and have an intense fascination with the sex lives of Wombats, You might want to head on over to Animal Planet and get to researching. As for me, I'll hope for a massive fanbase with tamer interests from all over the world. Do you have any ideas for other features you'd like to see added? Please let me know in a comment below.

Thank You So Much!
