Old Činarot

I could write a lot about the topic OLD given to us by @friendlymoose, maybe it would be enough just to look in the mirror and see an old head 🙂

But no, I'm not going to lie, I'm still not ready to throw up yet.

I decided to write about an old tree that I saw when I was in Ohrid, Macedonia.
However, an interesting story goes with this tree, and the tree is old enough to be in the topic OLD .

In the middle of the Ohrid Promenade, which is named after the first Slavic Bishop, St. Clement of Ohrid, there is a wide square.
And in the middle of the square, the Činarot tree.

This name is not a mystical name, it is just a name in the Macedonian language :-)
This is the most famous and oldest tree in Ohrid and beyond, which has its own page on Wikipedia.

According to legend, the tree was planted by Saint Clement of Ohrid himself, and its age is estimated at 1100 years.
The last 20 years. the tree suffered great damage, and in 2012, the weight of the falling snow broke off a large branch of that tree and it lost its former appearance.

The width of the hollow tree was previously 3 meters, and the tree reached a height of 18 meters.
Hundreds of years ago, until today, all roads in Ohrid led to this tree.
Generations of Ohrid residents rested in its shade, and in some period, the hollow of the tree was used as a tavern and as a pastry shop.
When in 1967 this tree was declared a natural monument, it started to be taken into account, however, the influence of nature permanently damaged its appearance.

This is still a living tree, the only question is how many more years it will leaf and whether it will live another year, decade or century...
