Sunsets, Sunrises, Darkness, and Daylight POBphotocontest Round #100: Open Theme

Hello Hivers and friends. How is everyone doing? I hope you are all well. I'm ok but I must say I'm a little bummed because I had to send my son off to Kansas City for High School basketball. I so wanted to make the drive down their to watch but a few things didn't come into place to make that happen. Primarily work and money were the blockers. It's a tough time to make things work out especially during the holidays when you have invested funds for that. I will still be able to watch via a paid live feed for the three days he will be down there.

Sunsets, Sunrises, Darkness and Daylight

Well the weekly #POBPhotocontest has come and it's the 100th special edition. Since it's an open theme I have decided to create my own theme and share some sky views. I caught a majority of these at home and at work. There were a few shots I took when I was out and about.

This is dawn shot I took from my work parking lot just before sunrise. It was 7:07 a.m. and was taken on 18 December. I enjoy being outside during dawn time. Well in the summer months anyways.

These two sunrise photos were taken within my car as I was approaching the entry gate to get on base where I work at. It was taken at 7:21 a.m. on 14 December. I just love the red colors in the sky. If only the skies stayed this way all day long.

Just before arriving at my workplace I stopped in a parking lot and took these first two with my smart phone. A nice red sun rise with leafless trees in the back ground. The last photo I took in my work place parking lot a few minutes later. This shot includes our flight line and runway. Beyond that you can faintly see some bluffs (small hills) that make up the eastern side of the view.

These two shots are both after the sunrise on 18 December. One I took shortly after sunrise at 8:08 a.m. and the other was at 9:09 a.m. The first one was taken outside and the other I took inside placing my phone right up against a slightly tinted window. The sky really changes rather quickly. For shadows, the second photo is about the perfect time for finding them in my opinion.

These two shots I took at 4:54 p.m. from my back deck off my house. Not quite a sunset but very close to it. Just a haze of of reddish purple color. I have a few more deck shots and they were all taken on 17 December.

This shot was taken at 5:25 p.m. the whole sky has changed colors in just under 30 minutes. It really does get dark fast in the winter months here. I love orangish sky line color.

Entry Photo

Here we see the last few minutes of color in the skyline. It was exactly 5:53 p.m. when I took these two shots. Just a few minutes away from being in complete darkness. I just love how there is just a little bit of color which barely lights up the surrounding area. Maybe it's the color along with the darkness black that appeals to me.

Here were are in the complete darkness. It's shortly after 9:00 p.m. The first photo is me on my drive home. I stopped the car and took the photo with the window down. The last photo is another moon shot with me out of my car in my driveway. It's fun to look at the night sky on clear night. Do you believe the stars and the moon bring out curiosity in us just by gazing at them?

I have to ask what phase of the sky do you like most? I'm an early riser and see so many dawns and sunsets. I see most of the the sunsets unless I'm inside. In the winter I may miss some while eating dinner. I'm in between them a bit but I have to say the sunrise on any body of water simply is amazing to me. I would share some but they are not recent ones. Most of the bodies of water here are already frozen. I think I have to go with sunrise because you have the whole day ahead. Depending on the time of year here sunsets could be close to bed time for old guys like me.

Well the sun is down here right now. That means a little television for me and than off to bed in a couple hours. I hope you enjoyed the article and photos. I wish everyone entering this photo contest the best of luck. This is all I have for you this time around.

Thanks you for your time and support. I really do appreciate it so much. Please take care, stay safe and have a great rest of your week. Until next time!
