It is a really discouraging when you as a newbie have no exposure here on Hive. Hive like everyone know is similar any other social gathering or platform and as such the social relationships you make is what helps you on your way up the ladder. You cannot climb the ladder on your own, you need guidance and a hand to pull you up when you eventually get tired.
So when I heard of the newbies initiative some few months back from @starstrings01 's post I was excited, even if I was surely ignorant of how it worked, I still wanted to give it a try. But then some unforseen circumstances made me miss the application date. I really felt bad but there was surely nothing I could have done but maybe there was but I didn't do anything.
It felt like a blessing when I saw @iskafan post about it's call for applicants some few days back, I have been waiting a while to be part of this year's batch. But then it's not about being excited and so on. Being part of the next batch means I'll have to be putting in a lot of more effort than I used to on a normal day, and the thought of it sounds intriguing.
I've slowly watched the newbie initiative from a distance and it was a lot easier by being friends with most of the last year's applicants. I must say as a newbie being part of this initiative is the best way to grow your hive account. The support is massive, I watched as the likes of @deraaa, @khaleesii , @iskafan and @ijohnsen grow in just 3months. Their growth is something worth praising because without the support of the initiative, I'm not sure they'll be where they are today.

This initiative gives you a chance to learn about some of the most important stuffs you need to know as a member of the hive. They put you through steps you've never even thought about implementing on your own and the rate at which you'll grow your HP and reputation would surprise you but then it all balls down to consistency and determination. Are you ready to put in all that??
I am, I don't know about you. As at the time of making this post my reputation is stuck at 59 hehe and 243HP. For someone who's been on this platform for close to six months I think there's a lot of room for improvement. Over the months I've been unstable, moving at a marathon sometimes and crawling as a snail other times. I know it's not easy but then nothing is ever easy.
They're very simple reasons why I'll like to be part of this newbies initiative by @aliento and @starstringz01. I'll like to be able to set goals and work towards achieving them. This one of the areas I've lack a lot since joining hive. There's no way I expect to grow if I can set some specific goals and achieve them. Over the months I've just been taking whatever comes my way in one peace but then startringz taught me how to start setting goals.
I got inspired by the story of how he'd grown in his HP journey. It really inspired me and by the end of November, I started to give it a try. I realized though that it's not about setting them, I had to ensure I pushed myself to achieve this goals. I'll love to improve in this area by being part of the initiative, it'll surely be a driving force towards achieving my goals.
I also realized that most of the last applicants were very active and posted constantly. You're advised to make atleast one post each day. Phew, I was able to do that only once, and was happy to see the message from Hivebuzz congratulating me. It felt really good and surely I hope I'll be able to put my head down and get more of those messages being part of the initiative.
Another reason is, I really want to learn. I'm the kind of person who's really open to knowledge, I really don't joke with it. This is a chance and an opportunity I'll never really get again to learn about how the whole Hive blockchain works and to apply most of the growth tips that would be taught in the classroom.
Apart from all this, I'm passionate about a lot of things here on Hive. My blog is actually a universal one, I post anything that really draws my attention, ranging from stories, to book reviews, finance, movie reviews, real life situations and anything entertaining. But I must confess that I love stories and authors who are amazing story writers, I always try to learn from them. They're a lot of my follow list and I surely would love to meet more.
I'm not too big on the finance aspect now but I'm hoping to grow and learn a lot about the whole crypto space. It's really a work in progress and hopefully before the end of this year I pray to join the likes of @josediccus and @readthisplease in the Leofinance community. Also, I hope to really learn from the likes of @trucklife-family and be really exposed to the natural environment and learn to appreciate it. Everything just takes time!.
I really want to appreciate everyone who has actually come together to ensure that this Newbies initiative changes a lot of lives here on Hive. I must say thank you too to @projectmamabg for her amazing design and warmness, felt like I'd know her a long time ago. As for any newbie reading this post, you too can be a part of this initiative, all you do is read through the criteria
