Nierenkrankheiten in Nigeria weit verbreitet
Statistisch gesehen haben Menschen aus Afrika ein ungefähr viermal so großes Risiko an einer Nierenkrankheit zu erkranken, wie Menschen aus Europa. Schätzungen zu Folge haben ca. 10 % aller Menschen in Nigeria ein Nierenleiden.
Gleichzeitig sind Dialysebehandlungen unheimlich teuer und damit für die meisten Menschen unbezahlbar. Die einzige Rettung ist eine Transplantation, die aufgrund fehlender gesetzlicher Krankenkassen, für die meisten auch ein Traum bleibt.
Die Kosten für eine Woche Dialyse liegen bei ca. 100 $. Die Transplantation kostet ca. 15.000.000 Naira also etwa 10.000 $ nach aktuellem Kurs.
Das Durchschnittseinkommen liegt bei unter 200 $ pro Monat. Ihr könnt Euch also vorstellen, was eine solche Diagnose für eine Familie bedeutet.
Kidney disease is widespread in Nigeria
Statistically speaking, people from Africa are about four times more likely to develop kidney disease than people from Europe. It is estimated that around 10% of all people in Nigeria have kidney disease.
At the same time, dialysis treatments are incredibly expensive and therefore unaffordable for most people. The only salvation is a transplant, which remains a dream for most people due to the lack of statutory health insurance.
The cost of a week of dialysis is around $100. The transplant costs around 15,000,000 Naira, i.e. around $10,000 at the current exchange rate.
The average income is less than 200 $ per month. So you can imagine what such a diagnosis means for a family.
Eine Frau kämpft für ihre Mutter

Ihre Mutter ist 68 Jahre alt und an einer Nierenkrankheit wie oben beschrieben erkrankt.
@seunruth klärt auf ihrem Blog hier auf Hive darüber auf und bitte dringend um Hilfe, um einen Transplantation für ihre Mutter zu bezahlen.
Dafür bittet sie sowohl um Spenden, aber auch um Kredite, die sie im September / Oktober zurückzahlen möchte, wenn das Haus der Familie verkauft ist.
Ich habe selbst zweimal über Discord mit @seunruth gesprochen. Man kann sich natürlich nie zu 100 % sicher sein, aber ich habe das Gefühl, dass hier wirklich Menschen in einer Notlage sind.
Daher habe ich mich entschlossen zu helfen.

@seunruth is an active member of our hive community.
Her mother is 68 years old and has kidney disease as described above.
@seunruth is raising awareness on her blog here on Hive and is urgently asking for help to pay for a transplant for her mother.
She is asking for donations, but also for loans, which she wants to pay back in September / October when the family home is sold.
I have spoken to @seunruth twice myself via Discord. Of course, you can never be 100% sure, but I have the feeling that there really are people in need here.

Darüber hinaus ist @hive.helps nicht dafür gedacht, individuelle Personen zu fördern, sondern Organisationen, die dies vor Ort tun.
Dennoch habe ich mich entschieden, es dieses Monat etwas anders zu handhaben. Ich hatte vor wenigen Tagen Geburtstag und anstatt Geschenken habe ich um Spenden gebeten.
Zusammen mit den 100 €, die ich ohnehin gespendet hätte konnte ich so genug Geld sammeln, um 250 HBD an @seunruth zu senden.

@hive.helps does not currently have the funds to make large donations each month.
Furthermore, @hive.helps is not meant to fund individuals, but organizations that do so locally.
Nevertheless, I decided to do things a little differently this month. It was my birthday a few days ago and instead of gifts, I asked for donations.
Together with the €100 I would have donated anyway, I was able to raise enough money to send 250 HBD to @seunruth.
