Hoy cumplo con el deber de informarles que oficialmente tengo cédula. Tal vez, eso no sea trascendental para ustedes, pero, para mí sí, porque mi documento de identidad venció en plena pandemia y, a partir de allí, comenzó mi peregrinar, por lo que tenerla significa el cierre de un ciclo.

Pero déjame contarte todo para contextualizarte. Hace unos días por disposiciones generales de mi país, el instituto encargado de tramitar y agilizar todo lo relacionado con la cedulación y pasaporte, cambió todo el esquema para obtener estos documentos.

But let me tell you everything to contextualize you. A few days ago, due to general provisions of my country, the institute in charge of processing and expediting everything related to the ID and passport, changed the whole scheme to obtain these documents.

Antes tenías que ir al Saime según tu número de cédula y hacer una cola kilométrica y dormir allá. Si tenías un atajo, es decir, pagarle a alguien para que te pase, era probable que la sacaras. En fin, toda una tortura. Yo fui tres veces y las tres veces me rebotaron.

Resulta que después de ver cómo se hacía para sacar la cédula vía online, le pedí una amiga que me ayudara con eso, porque para lidiar con esas cosas no tengo paciencia. Entonces, ella que ya lo había hecho, me contó que uno de los principales problemas que ha tenido es el usuario y el correo. Eso no me extraña, porque la gente se pone a sacar correos y luego no los recuerda.

Entramos sin problemas. Ella comenzó a llenar los espacios pertinentes sin dificultad hasta que llegamos al tema del nacimiento. Yo no nací en mi terruño querido: Cumaná. Nací en otro estado. Yo nunca viví allí, así que desconocía algunos datos del hospital. Afortunadamente, yo tengo una mamá que se ocupó de guardar debajo del colchón las partidas de nacimiento de nosotras.

Al llegar, encontré un grupo de cinco personas, pero ninguna iba a sacarse la cédula. Ellos tenían problemas con sus usuarios o correos y debían resolverlos. Conversé con el vigilante, me preguntó si tenía la planilla y le dije que sí. Se sorprendió, porque al parecer nadie había podido sacarla.

and there he was, waiting for me, waiting for the ideal moment when he would be useful again, and he was. We settled that and made the appointment. I requested it for April 10 at 8:00 in the morning. The big day arrived and I left early, because I was afraid that there would be the mess that always happens outside the Saime.

When I arrived, I found a group of five people, but none of them were going to get their identification cards. They had problems with their users or e-mails and they had to solve them. I talked to the guard, he asked me if I had the form and I said yes. He was surprised, because apparently no one had been able to get it.

Una hora después llegaron dos personas más y nos hicieron entrar. Entramos. Esperamos sentados, porque el director no había llegado. No fue mucho tiempo. Entramos a la oficina como tal. Nos pidieron las planillas, verificaron los datos y, acto seguido, comenzaron a llamarnos.

Me atendió una chica. El sistema se cayó como tres veces. La primera vez cuando estaban metiendo unos datos, la segunda vez, cuando me tocaba poner las huellas, la tercera vez, cuando me tocaba la foto... Sin embargo, debo decir que no fue mucho tiempo, iba y venía. Igual me asusté, porque no quería pensar en volver a hacer todo el proceso.

I was answered by a girl. The system crashed about three times. The first time when they were entering some data, the second time, when it was my turn to put my fingerprints, the third time, when it was my turn to take the photo.... However, I must say that it was not a long time, it came and went. I still got scared, because I didn't want to think about going through the whole process again.

Terminamos y me dijeron que debía estar atenta al correo para venir a buscarla. Así lo hice, pero noté que no llegaba nada, por lo que abrí mi cuenta en la página y allí estaba la notificación. Ayer, me alisté volando, fui a buscar la bendita cédula y ya puedo decir que tengo cédula ¡¡¡Por fin!!!

Ahora bien, hay tres cosas que recomiendo para hacer todo este proceso:

Now, there are three things I recommend to do this whole process:

-. Buscar ayuda para hacer todo el proceso. No necesariamente se debe pagar. Yo busqué a mi amiga que es muy hábil para esas cosas y no tienen amigos hábiles para llenar esas cosas, pues empiecen a tenerlo o conviértanse en ese amigo.

-. Tengan a la mano su dirección de correo electrónico. Todas las que tengan y si tienen tiempo que no las revisan, pues actualícenla antes de ponerse a llenar todo. En mi caso, fue muy fácil, porque yo anoto todo y tengo muchas agendas con mis datos.

-. El día de la cita intenten no llegar justo a la hora, tal vez, diez o cinco minutos antes.

-. No piden dinero, no piden carta de residencia, no necesitas llevar la cédula vencida ni nada de eso.

Antes de despedirme quiero dejar claro que lo que aquí que te cuento no es una historia de lucha y agonía y que yo al igual que tú estoy muy sorprendida, porque hace años no hacía un trámite con tanta rapidez y fluidez. Me trataron muy bien ese día, lo cual es toda una proeza, porque me han contado que el trato hacia ellos fue muy malo, pero eso no pasó conmigo.
