We raise broilers as well. We let them semi free range by putting a bit of a fence around the front of the chicken tractor. At night we put them inside and close the door to protect them from predators. In the morning we move the fence, set out food and open the door. The birds run to the food and then we can move the chicken tractor up to the fence with ease.
We have found that our birds are so much healthier this way.
And home raised is better in many ways than from the store.
