Este fin de semana hicimos un viaje para asistir a un seminario de karate en Maturín, Edo, Monagas, una ciudad que está a tres horas de donde vivo.
Antes viajaba con frecuencia allí, por trabajo. Incluso, desde que tenía 5 y hasta los 15 años viví en esa ciudad.
Pero esta vez, la ruta era nueva para mí, porque mis viajes anteriores eran desde otra ciudad, no desde donde vivo ahora.
Así que me sentí fascinada de ver el paisaje, además de la vegetación verde y hermosa. Habían farallones, estructuras interesantes desde el punto de vista geológico.
This weekend we took a trip to attend a karate seminar in Maturin, Edo, Monagas, a city that is three hours away from where I live.
I used to travel there frequently for work. I even lived in that city from the time I was 5 until I was 15 years old.
But this time, the route was new to me, because my previous trips were from another city, not from where I live now.
So I was fascinated to see the landscape, besides the green and beautiful vegetation. There were cliffs, interesting structures from the geological point of view.

No estamos pendientes de los teléfonos, ni de ningún otro aparato electrónico, es un espacio que, bien aprovechado, se convierte en una oportunidad única de conectarnos unos con otros y nuestros pensamientos son libres de distracciones. No hay prisa, ni tenemos que ir a ningún otro lado.
I have always enjoyed traveling, enjoying the scenery and the pleasant conversations we have during the trip.
We are not dependent on phones or any other electronic device, it is a space that, well used, becomes a unique opportunity to connect with each other and our thoughts are free of distractions. There is no rush, nor do we have to go anywhere else.
Durante mis vacaciones intentamos hacer varios viajes y siempre ocurría algo que no nos los permitía, así que me alegra por fin haber salido de nuestra ciudad.
El viaje de ida ocurrió sin contratiempos, no hubo tráfico, ni siquiera hubo lluvia, gracias a Dios. Además llegamos a buen ahora para el registro de mi hijo en el evento al que asistió.
During my vacation we tried to make several trips and something always happened that didn't allow us to do it, so I'm glad we finally got out of our city.
The outbound trip went smoothly, there was no traffic, not even rain, thank God. We also arrived in good time for my son's registration for the event he attended.
El viaje de regreso fue otra historia. Cuando llevábamos poco tiempo de viaje, el embrague de nuestra camioneta dejó de funcionar.
El seminario había terminado tarde, además era domingo, así que no era mucho lo que podíamos hacer. Estábamos en medio de la nada, mi esposo logró arrancar el vehículo y decidió continuar nuestro camino, intentando mantener la velocidad entre 4ta y 3era, cambios que podía hacer con mucho esfuerzo.
The return trip was a different story. A short time into the trip, our van's clutch stopped working.
The seminar had ended late, plus it was Sunday, so there wasn't much we could do. We were in the middle of nowhere, my husband managed to start the vehicle and decided to continue on our way, trying to keep the speed between 4th and 3rd gear, which he could do with a lot of effort.
Todos íbamos orando para que Dios nos llevara a salvo a nuestro hogar. Aunque no había tráfico, se nos atravesó una vaca y un toro, que les dio por cruzar la calle. Había un auto accidentado en la vía y varias personas personas también cruzando la calle. Unos motorizados que les dio por hacer piruetas.
Yo me sentía como en un videojuego con obstáculos, donde la idea era superarlos, sin tener que reducir la velocidad. No mentiré, fue estresante.
Ya no estaba pendiente del paisaje, aunque a veces intentaba respirar un poco y mirar por la ventana, para disminuir la tensión que sentía.
We were all praying that God would bring us safely home. Although there was no traffic, a cow and a bull crossed the road. There was a car crashed on the road and several people were also crossing the road. Some bikers were doing pirouettes.
I felt like I was in a video game with obstacles, where the idea was to overcome them without having to slow down. I won't lie, it was stressful.
I was no longer aware of the scenery, although sometimes I tried to breathe a little and look out the window, to reduce the tension I felt.
Gracias a Dios logramos llegar a casa sin más contratiempos. Cuando mi esposo disminuyó la velocidad para entrar a la urbanización donde vivimos, el carro se apagó y luego no rodó ni un centímetro más. Entre él y mi hijo lo empujaron para estacionarlo frente a nuestra casa.
Me sentí muy feliz y agradecida de estar en mi hogar y no paraba de dar gracias a Dios por eso.
De resto, todo fue un éxito, luego les contaré que tal fue nuestra experiencia en el seminario, pero sabía que necesitaría una publicación completa para contar sólo la aventura del viaje de ida y vuelta.
Thank God we made it home without further mishaps. When my husband slowed down to enter the urbanization where we live, the car turned off and then didn't roll another inch. Between him and my son, they pushed it to park it in front of our house.
I felt very happy and grateful to be at home and I kept thanking God for that.
Otherwise, everything was a success, I will tell you later about our experience at the seminary, but I knew it would take a whole post to tell you just the adventure of the trip there and back.
Por cierto, al estar fuera de la ciudad me ausenté de mi blog por un par de días, sin embargo, fue muy agradable salir de la rutina y disfrutar cosas distintas.
