My roommate and I were wondering what this meet up would be all about. Moreover, we had an Idea that it would be a meeting kind of meet up which we would spend few hours in. So, we decided to leave for the meeting late.

The information about the meeting was that we should meet by 9:30 am but instead, we left by 11:00 am and got there by 11:30am but there haven’t started. It was until 12 noon they started the meeting. After they started, it was then I knew the meet up was to discuss about career.

The primary focus of the meetup was on how to seek for jobs after finishing with school. Below are some of the points such were given:

1. ROLE SEARCHING: What this means is that if you are looking for a job in computer engineering, you need to know the role of a computer engineer most especially in a certain company you applied to.

2. UTILIZE THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA: Many of us only use the social media platform for chatting and watching videos alone. We don’t know that many organizations today have their companies online and the social media platform is the best way to reach out to them. Therefore, it is necessary to follow different companies on all their social media accounts to get info anytime there are job Vacancies.

3. ROLE SEARCH ON GLASSDOOR AND INDEED: Just like linkedIn, We have glassdoor and indeed. With these websites, you can search for jobs and also job roles.

4. JOIN DIGITAL GROUPS: What I mean by joining digital groups is by looking for social media groups related to acquiring jobs. There are many groups one can find on Facebook, WhatsApp and telegram in which job opportunities are often shared.

5. REMOTE AND ON-SITE JOB STRATEGIES: There are many ways one can find a job and most of these jobs can either be a remote or on-site job.

What do I mean by these kind of jobs?

A remote job is the kind of job that doesn’t require you to work on field but rather at the comfort of your home. These kind of jobs are/were very common last year when the coronavirus was fresh.

An On-site job are the kind of jobs that requires you to be present in office or on the field of work.

Since these two kinds of job are available, it is very important one don’t throw his head into one basket by focusing on one kind and leaving the other.

These were the points I picked up yesterday while in the meeting. Though, I didn’t put 100% concentration but I did try to take some notes.
