Está historia que les cuento a continuación es real y me sucedió a mí, no fue por casualidad sino fruto de un significativo esfuerzo. Todo empezó al terminar mis estudios de bachiller cuando entre muchas decisiones, una de las mejores fue postularme para un sistema de becas otorgadas por la Asociación Venezolana Americana de Amistad (AVAA), dirigidas a estudiantes destacados, confiaba en que tenía todas las cualidades para obtenerla, y fue así. Además de ayudar en la formación integral del becario, con talleres, cursos de inglés, estipendio mensual, uno de los beneficios más llamativos de la beca era concursar por un intercambio cultural en los Estados Unidos al terminar los estudios universitarios. Para ello debía cumplir con muchos requerimientos, entre ellos sacar las mejores calificaciones en mi carrera de odontología, lo que representaba un gran reto para mí por la complejidad de la universidad. Sin embargo, como lo podrán deducir no fue impedimento para mí y tras muchísimo esfuerzo obtuve lo que tanto quería.
Durante el transcurso de mi último año de la carrera me informaron que fui ganadora de la beca internacional y que tan pronto terminara mi carga académica emprendería un viaje a Estados Unidos durante 5 semanas con todos los gastos cubiertos. Me mantuve muy enfocada y motivada esos meses esperando el gran día.

This story that I am telling you below is real and it happened to me, not by chance but as a result of a significant effort. All of this started after my high school studies when, among many decisions, one of the best was to apply for a system of scholarships granted by “Asociación Venezolano Americana de Amistad” (AVAA), aimed at outstanding students. I was confident that I had all the qualities to obtain it, and that's how it was. Besides helping in the integral formation of the scholarship holder, with workshops, English courses, monthly stipend, one of the most striking benefits of the scholarship was to compete for a cultural exchange in the United States upon completion of university studies. To do this, I had to fulfill many requirements, including getting the best grades in my dental career, which was a great challenge for me due to the complexity of the university. However, as you can see, this did not stop me from getting what I wanted after a lot of effort.
During the course of my senior year I was informed that I was a winner of the international scholarship and that as soon as I finished my academic load I would take a trip to the United States for 5 weeks with all expenses covered. I stayed very focused and motivated during those months waiting for the big day.
El 22 de enero de 2018 empezó está fascinante aventura que me condujo a la mágica ciudad de Los Ángeles dónde los sueños se hacen realidad o por lo menos en mi caso fue así. Sin ninguna expectativa más que dejarme asombrar, llegué al aeropuerto de LA y fue recibida por Samuel Nang Lee, el presidente y fundador del Columbia West College, el instituto donde recibiría el curso de inglés, para llevarme a la residencia dónde me alojaría durante mi estancia.
On January 22, 2018, this fascinating adventure began and led me to the magical city of Los Angeles where dreams come true, or at least in my case they did. Without any expectation other than being amazed, I arrived at the LA airport and was welcomed by Samuel Nang Lee, the president and founder of Columbia West College, the institute where I would receive the English course, to take me to the residence where I would stay during my stay.
Al llegar a Hobart residence, conocí al encargado, un señor mexicano muy amable con el que pude comunicarme en español y del que pude recibír toda la información necesaria, además me acompañó a mi habitación donde conocería más tarde a mi roomate llamaba Aliya, totalmente agradecida de tener la suerte de haberla conocido, cirujana cardiovascular de niños y una mujer integra, ordenada y muy motivada proveniente de Kazajistán.
When I arrived at Hobart residence, I met the manager, a very kind Mexican gentleman with whom I could communicate in Spanish and from whom I could receive all the necessary information. He also accompanied me to my room where I would later meet my roomate called Aliya, totally grateful to have the luck of having met her, a cardiovascular surgeon for children and a very integrated, orderly and highly motivated woman from Kazakhstan.
Desde ese primer momento Aliya y su amiga Zarina, fueron mis compañeras de aventura, estaban tan emocionadas de conocer la ciudad como yo, así que el primer día después de presentar el examen del nivel de inglés, nos fuimos directamente a conocer el famoso Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood. Toda la ruta dura más de una hora a pie durante ese tiempo hablamos sobre el fascinante séptimo arte y sobre las vidas de los artistas que lo hacen posible, mientras aprovechamos de tomar muchas fotos, esas fueron las primeras fotos geniales de mi viaje.
From that first moment Alhya and her friend Zarina, were my adventure partners, they were as excited to know the city as I was, so the first day after taking the English test, we went straight to the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. The whole route takes over an hour to walk during which time we talked about the fascinating seventh art and the lives of the artists who makes it possible, while taking many pictures, those were the first great pictures of my trip.
Recordar mis días recorriendo esas calles transitadas de Hollywood me llenan de nostalgia y satisfacción, realmente disfruté al máximo esta experiencia y quiero compartir con ustedes cada detalle. Así de impactante termina mi primer día en los Ángeles, les seguiré contando sobre mis aventuras en esta maravillosa ciudad llena de colores, magia y entretenimiento.
Remembering my days walking those busy Hollywood streets fills me with nostalgia and satisfaction, I really enjoyed this experience and I want to share with you every detail. This is how my first day in Los Angeles ends. I will continue to tell you about my adventures in this wonderful city full of colors, magic and entertainment.
