Al pedirles que mencionen qué cosas se puede hacer con una baraja de cartas, no dudo en que una buena parte de ustedes se decántaron por la opción de los tradicionales juegos de mesa. Habrá quienes atisbaron, tal vez, sin demasiadas ganas de incluirlos, los castillos de naipes.
La parte restantes se quedarían bastante agusto con haber pensado en los trucos de magia como otra de las opciones .
Pues, ya de por sí, los trucos con cartas (cartomagia) abre un gran abanico de posibilidades al emplear una baraja de cartas.
Es el indiscutido acompañante del ilucionista en sus rutinas mágicas. Así que ¿Qué otra cosa igual de cautivante se puede realizar con una baraja de cartas?

Manipulación con cartas:
1) Cardistry, XCM y florituras con cartas
¿Barajar las cartas? ¿Puede ser eso de lo que hago tanta gala? Los trucos de magia destacan por su gran belleza, pero sigue habiendo la delibera intención por parte del del mago de mantener oculto algunos movimientos en beneficio del truco.
Por su parte, el cardistry exibe por completo su belleza. Movimientos artísticos expuestos hasta el más mínimo detalle. Nada queda reservado a la imaginación de los espectadores.
La manipulación con cartas se concibe como forma de arte ajeno a la cartomagia. Existen hasta dos tipos de manipulación, la que tiene un contenido mágico (manipulación mágica) y la que no la tiene (cardistry, gambling, XCM o florituras con cartas)
El Cardistry se conoce también como florituras con cartas o manipulación extrema de cartas (XCM), son muy pequeñas las diferencias que separan estos tres conceptos (sobretodo basadas en estilo)
De modo que sí, podría decirse que el Cardistry es barajar las cartas de un modo... Poco convencional.
2) Gambling
Esta especialidad manipulative es aplicada en los juegos de mesa, consiste en técnicas avanzadas para hacer trampas en dichos juegos. Cómo ejemplo están los: cortes falsos en mesa, dadas en segunda, dadas desde abajo, etc.
3) Manipulación mágica (prestidigitación)
Especialidad de la magia que consta de una manipulación de cartas para causar un efecto mágico sumamente vistoso y directo.
Se basa en hacer aparecer y desaparecer cartas, en transformarlas, etc.
Todo esto normalmente en un escenario.

La magia no era algo en lo que me interesara anteriormente, al menos no lo suficiente como para querer develar sus secretos. Estaba totalmente agusto como espectador, es probable que se deba a que nunca había presenciado un acto de magia visualmente impactante.
En este aspecto, por un tiempo nada escaló más allá de un compañero de clases tratando de impresionar a sus amigos con algún truco sencillo que aprendió quién sabe dónde. Por supuesto que disfruté de trucos como ese, sin embargo, ninguno me hacía desear cambiar mi rol de espectador, descubrir la verdad de tras del truco (de existir alguna) no me interesaba.
No hubo un cambio en mi forma de pensar en relación a la magia, hasta que llegue a ver un programa de televisión llamado: Dynamo: Magia imposible.
Ese programa en especial cambió por completo mi percepción sobre la magia; me hizo creer en la magia.
Particularmente me atraía mucho cuando el mago hacía “bailar” las cartas, cosa que hizo pocas veces a lo largo del programa, eso hacia que mi interés fuera en aumento por dichos movimientos. Los cuales supe después, se llamaban florituras con cartas.
Ya en este punto parte de mi familia sabía de mi gran interés por la magia. No transcurrió mucho tiempo cuando recibí por parte de uno de mis tíos, una baraja de cartas, no estaba nueva pero, fue indispensable para dar mis primeros pasos como cartomago.— permítanme ayudarme un poco con ese título, porque la verdad era terrible con la cartomagia ;)— Como imaginarán mi verdadero interés estaba en cómo mover las cartas como ese mago, no en hacer magia.
Todo eso me condujo hasta la noche en la que viendo vídeos sobre DYNAMO, descubrí el Cardistry...

Magic was not something I was interested in before, at least not enough to want to unveil its secrets. I was totally comfortable as a spectator, probably because I had never witnessed a visually stunning magic act.
In this regard, for a while nothing escalated beyond a classmate trying to impress his friends with some simple trick he learned who knows where. Of course I enjoyed tricks like that, however, none of them made me want to change my role as a spectator, discovering the truth behind the trick (if any) didn't interest me.
There was no change in my way of thinking about magic, until I got to see a television program called: Dynamo: Impossible Magic.
That particular program completely changed my perception of magic; it made me believe in magic.
I was particularly attracted when the magician made the cards "dance", which he did a few times throughout the program, that made my interest grow for those movements. Which I later learned were called card flourishes.
At this point, part of my family already knew about my great interest in magic. It wasn't long before I received a deck of cards from one of my uncles, it wasn't new but it was indispensable to take my first steps as a card magician - let me help myself a little with that title, because I was really terrible at card magic ;)- as you can imagine my real interest was in how to move the cards like that magician, not in doing magic.
All that led me to the night when watching videos about DYNAMO, I discovered Cardistry....
