My Grandma’s village.

Hello friends,

My Grandma lives in a village with my Grandpa. They used to live in a different village that’s even further away from the city, when I was a kid. I remember how it felt lime long hours on a bus when we went there for my summer break. It was a real challenge for me because I used to feel carsick. The buses in my childhood weren’t as nice as they are now. For some reason they were looking old and smelled like a gasoline, that smell made me sick. But I knew that after four hours of inconvenience I’ll see my Grandma, cousins and all those cute farm animals, so I didn’t complain too much.

Their house used to be crowded with us their grandkids with their parents in the summer time.

Now it’s an empty nest, but because have a lot of kids, they never feel lonely. All the kids and grandkids take turns going there every month if not every week.

That’s the benefit of having children. But it’s not that easy to raise so many kids. It’s a lot of hard work. I know that it doesn’t always happen like that. Very often kids leave the parents’ house and aren’t able to came as often. Usually it could be because of long distances, and it’s sad. I can’t imagine how those old parents are feeling being lonely.

I really want my kids to live nearby when they are adults. I’m open to help with their kids when I’m retired.

This iron stove is a lot of work, but my grandparents used to it and don’t want to move to the apartment in the city, where there ia a central heating provided.

Cats in the village are also real hard workers, they catch mice and rats, jist like it used to be in the past.

This authentic water boiler called Samovar, which literally means that it boils water bu itself. You see the old looking “chimney”? So there under it, inside the samovar people put tiny dry wood pieces and burn it. Chimney helps them to burn better. After awhile the water start boiling. When water boils, the chimney can be removed, and samovar is transferred to the kitchen table. My mom in her childhood used that as a kettle, so when she visits Grandma, she takes it out and wants to drink tea using this samovar, even if they have electric kettle. She says tea from samovar has better taste.
