Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, tuesday the 24/09/2024 in history.

We begin today from Cambodia. Do you know that on this day in 1993, Norodom Sihanouk was crowned king of Cambodia for the second time. He was first crowned and reigned as King from 1941–1955.

From Cambodia, we move over to the world of submarines, ships and watercrafts. Do you also know that on this day in 1960, the United States launched the Enterprise, the first aircraft carrier to run on nuclear power.

From the world of submarines, ships and watercrafts, we move over to the world of tennis. Now, on this day in 1938, Tennis player Don Budge became the first to win a Grand Slam championship when he won the U.S. Open.

From the world of tennis, we move over to the United States of America. Do you know that on this day in 1906, Devils Tower in northeastern Wyoming was designated the first national monument in the United States.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in history from Iran. Do you know that on this day in 1902, Ruhollah Khomeini, an Iranian Shiʿi cleric, who spearheaded the revolution that ousted Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi in 1979 and served as Iran's ultimate political and religious authority for the next decade.
