Hello all Hivians and good people of the Gems community. Most of us may not be aware of some major happenings or events around the globe that took place on this day many years ago. I will therefore take us round the globe in a giffey to have a look at some of those historical events that took place on this day, sunday the 21/10/2024 in history.

We begin today from the world of media organization. Do you know that on this day in 2010, WikiLeaks, a website formed by Julian Assange that served as a clearinghouse for classified or otherwise privileged information, published thousands of US papers related to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

From the world of media organization, we move over to India. Do you also know that on this day in 2008, India's first lunar space mission, Chandrayaan-1, was launched and it later discovered water in the Moon's atmosphere.

From India, we move over to the world of Nobel Prize. Now, on this day in 1964, French philosopher and writer Jean-Paul Sartre was named the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature, but he became the first person to decline the prize.

From the world of Nobel Prize, we move over to Iran. Do you know that on this day in 1688, Nādir Shāh, an Iranian Prince and conqueror, established an empire spanning from the Indus River to the Caucasus Mountains, was born in Kobhān, Safavid Iran.

From Iran, we move over to Israel. Now, on this day in 1913, Bao Dai, the last reigning Emperor of Vietnam (1926–45) was born in Vietnam.

Gentlemen, we'll round off our today's look in from Cuba. Do you know that on this day in 1962, President John F. Kennedy warned Americans about the Cuban missile crisis, establishing a naval blockade to prevent further missile shipments to the island nation 90 miles (145 kilometres) off the US coast.
