The Basel Minster church facade reflects its splendor from afar.
If you look closely, you can see a white sandstone patch blending in with the red at the base of the left bell tower. This is part of the original church, which was built in 1019. The church, which is now a protestant church, was rebuilt after being partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1356. The last tower with a clock and a sundial is called St. Martin's Tower. It was completed about 1500.
