Luego de haber hablado anteriormente acerca de mi visión sobre el sector NFT, estoy listo para mostrarles el proceso, el trasfondo, y el resultado de mi propia colección artística que estuve creando en estos últimos días y que ya he subido con éxito a OpenSea. Sé que no es la mejor ni la más completa, es simplemente una humilde creación propia, y estoy feliz ya que es algo que tenía pendiente de realizar, y por fin lo pude concretar. Además, quedé contento con el acabado final, ya que era la primera vez que hacía este tipo de ilustraciones y el resultado me sorprendió a mi mismo.

Hace algunas semanas he empezado a interiorizarme en el aprendizaje de Blender 3D. Poco a poco estoy adquiriendo más conocimiento en ello, y me fascina, pero aún no me veo capaz de realizar una colección de NFT allí, ya que me falta aprender varios aspectos del software, tales como el renderizado, cámaras y animación.

Por lo tanto, ante mi "ansiedad" por querer tener mi propia colección en el corto plazo, decidí realizarla en 2D, mediante el uso de Photoshop, ya que es una herramienta que tengo bien aprendida y la utilizo desde hace muchos años.

After having spoken previously about my vision of the NFT sector, I am ready to show you the process, the background, and the result of my own artistic collection that I have been creating in the last few days and that I have successfully uploaded to OpenSea. I know it's not the best or the most complete, it's just a humble creation of my own, and I'm happy because it's something I had pending to do, and finally I could do it. Besides, I was happy with the final finish, since it was the first time I did this kind of illustrations and the result surprised me.

A few weeks ago I started to internalize myself in learning Blender 3D. Little by little I am acquiring more knowledge in it, and it fascinates me, but I still don't see myself able to make a NFT collection there, since I lack to learn several aspects of the software, such as rendering, cameras and animation.

Therefore, in view of my "anxiety" for wanting to have my own collection in the short term, I decided to make it in 2D, using Photoshop, since it is a tool that I have learned well and I have been using it for many years.

Inicialmente, comencé el proyecto con la idea de crear una colección de NFT masiva, la cual tendría una base y diferentes atributos o rasgos. Ya que mi objetivo inicial era crear una colección masiva, debía encontrar una forma de generar las imágenes con variaciones aleatorias de forma automática. Para hacerlo, tuve que vincular al Photoshop un script programado con instrucciones de capturar una capa de cada grupo y exportar el conjunto de imágenes. Previamente, para que el script funcione correctamente, debí organizar las capas en los grupos correspondientes.

En primer lugar, tuve que decidir qué objeto o personaje hacer. Luego de pensar un poco, me incliné por lo básico y decidí que mi colección iba a estar dedicada al rostro de un niño.

Luego tuve que pensar acerca del tipo de arte que iba a generar. Debido a que quise obtener un resultado rápido, me ocupé de que el arte sea simple, con pocos detalles y apenas algunas sombras.

Initially, I started the project with the idea of creating a massive NFT collection, which would have a base and different attributes or features. Since my initial goal was to create a massive collection, I had to find a way to generate the images with random variations automatically. To do this, I had to link to Photoshop a programmed script with instructions to capture a layer from each group and export the set of images. Previously, for the script to work correctly, I had to organize the layers in the corresponding groups.

First, I had to decide which object or character to make. After some thought, I went with the basics and decided that my collection was going to be dedicated to a child's face.

Then I had to think about the type of art I was going to generate. Because I wanted to get a quick result, I took care to keep the art simple, with little detail and just a few shadows.

Ya teniendo la idea del personaje y el tipo de arte a bosquejar, procedí a crearla en Adobe Photoshop CS4. Mi principal aliada fue la herramienta "pluma", la cual me resultó muy útil para realizar las curvas en cada rasgo del personaje y los diferentes trazados del proyecto.

Once I had the idea of the character and the type of artwork to sketch, I proceeded to create it in Adobe Photoshop CS4. My main ally was the "pen" tool, which was very useful to make the curves in each feature of the character and the different paths of the project.

FIGURA BASE | BASE FIGURE

Primeramente, creé la figura del rostro y cuello del personaje, generando así la base fundamental del propósito. Luego, le agregué algunas sombras en el rostro, cuello y oreja, para generar ciertos detalles básicos. Además, generé una capa idéntica pero con un color de piel distinto, generando así la primera variación de la colección.

First, I created the figure of the face and neck of the character, thus generating the fundamental basis of the purpose. Then, I added some shadows on the face, neck and ear, to generate some basic details. In addition, I generated an identical layer but with a different skin color, thus generating the first variation of the collection.

CABELLO | HAIR

Decidí hacerle un cabello algo despeinado al estilo Ben Tennyson, personaje de la serie de televisión animada llamada "Ben 10". Le agregué algunas sombras y reflejos, y generé una gran variedad de colores diferentes.

I decided to make her hair a bit tousled in the style of Ben Tennyson, a character from the animated TV series called "Ben 10". I added some shadows and highlights, and generated a variety of different colors.

OJOS | EYES

Este atributo lo hice simple, reflejando la esencia de la colección. Traté de crear una mirada directa hacia un punto de fuga lejano, con algunos destellos de luz representado reflejos y sombras. Alteré los colores del iris para generar variaciones, y además creé un par de ojos "achinados", para luego poder generar expresiones de alegría o, simplemente, de un personaje con rasgos asiáticos.

I made this attribute simple, reflecting the essence of the collection. I tried to create a direct look towards a distant vanishing point, with some flashes of light representing reflections and shadows. I altered the iris colors to generate variations, and also created a pair of "slanted" eyes, so that I could generate expressions of joy or, simply, of a character with Asian features.

EXPRESIÓN | EXPRESSION

Agregué variaciones en sus expresiones, al generar diferentes tipos de cejas y bocas, combinándolas con una única nariz fija, creando así expresiones específicas tales como "malvado", "alegre", "triste", "neutral", etc.

I added variations in their expressions by generating different types of eyebrows and mouths, combining them with a single fixed nose, creating specific expressions such as "evil", "happy", "sad", "neutral", etc.

GAFAS | GLASSES

Se me ocurrió adicionar a mi personaje unas gafas con algunas representaciones de texturas. Por lo tanto, opté por diseñar unas gafas llamativa pero, a su vez, minimalista. Fue así como surgieron estas gafas, que rellené con 4 motivos diferentes (Agua, Marte, Luna y Sol).

It occurred to me to add to my character a pair of glasses with some representations of textures. Therefore, I chose to design eye-catching but, at the same time, minimalist glasses. That's how I came up with these glasses, which I filled with 4 different motifs (Water, Mars, Moon and Sun).

TATUAJES | TATTOOS

A modo de generar una variación apenas notoria y a su vez divertida, decidí crear algunos rostros tatuados con el logo de algunas pocas criptomonedas.

In order to generate a barely noticeable yet fun variation, I decided to create some tattooed faces with the logo of a few cryptocurrencies.

FONDO | BACKGROUND

Por último, generé fondos con algunos de los colores usados previamente para los atributos del personaje, con la intención de crear una complementación en la estética general de cada imagen.

Finally, I generated backgrounds with some of the colors previously used for the character's attributes, with the intention of creating a complement to the overall aesthetics of each image.

GENERACIÓN DE IMÁGENES | IMAGE GENERATION

Lamentablemente no realicé capturas del proceso de generación de variaciones a través del script en Photoshop. En resumen, lo que hizo ese código de programación precargado fue capturar una capa de cada grupo para crear así una imagen conjunta. Por ejemplo, del grupo "Expresiones" tomó la expresión Alegre, del grupo "Ojos" tomó los ojos azules, del grupo "Cabello" tomó el cabello negro, y así con todos los grupos, hasta formar una imagen única en variaciones.

Al ejecutar el script se generaron todas las imágenes con todas la variaciones posibles. Organicé las capas y grupos de tal modo que se generen 50 variaciones ya que, en ese momento, no sabía cómo subir mi colección de forma masiva a OpenSea. Por lo tanto y teniendo en cuenta que debía subir cada NFT individualmente, no quise crear tantas variaciones para no estar mil horas subiendo toda mi colección.

Luego de ya haber subido mi colección completa y cargado los datos de cada NFT en particular a OpenSea, me enteré de que se puede subir una colección entera de forma masiva mediante código de programación o incluso mediante una app de phyton en la cual casi no es necesario que sepas nada de código. Lamentablemente me enteré de esto después de haber subido mi colección, pero igualmente agradezco haber encontrado esta información ya que es muy útil para futuros proyectos que puedo crear.

Unfortunately I did not capture the process of generating variations through the Photoshop script. In short, what that preloaded programming code did was to capture a layer from each group to create a joint image. For example, from the group "Expressions" it took the expression "Cheerful", from the group "Eyes" it took the blue eyes, from the group "Hair" it took the black hair, and so on with all the groups, until forming a single image in variations.

Running the script generated all the images with all the possible variations. I organized the layers and groups in such a way that 50 variations were generated since, at that time, I did not know how to upload my collection in bulk to OpenSea. Therefore, and taking into account that I had to upload each NFT individually, I did not want to create so many variations so as not to spend a thousand hours uploading my entire collection.

After having already uploaded my entire collection and loaded the data of each NFT in particular to OpenSea, I found out that you can upload an entire collection in bulk using programming code or even through a phyton app in which it is almost not necessary that you know anything about coding. Unfortunately I found this out after I had uploaded my collection, but I am still grateful to have found this information as it is very useful for future projects I may create.

CONCLUSIÓN | CONCLUSION

Al crear mi propia colección de NFT, mi objetivo no fue directamente monetario. Quise crear una pequeña colección de NFT para tener mi propio portafolio de creaciones, y ofrecer este servicio en distintas plataformas freelance. Al mintearlos en OpenSea, claro que les puse un precio de venta, por si acaso a alguien le interesa tener un Crypto Alfi. La colección la nombré "Crypto Alfies", son 50 "Alfies", NFTs únicos diseñados completamente por mí. Fue una grata experiencia complementar el mundo del diseño con el mundo crypto. Mi proyecto es muy pequeño y humilde, pero aún así estoy muy contento de haberlo concretado. ¡Tengo mi propia colección de NFT en OpenSea!

When creating my own NFT collection, my goal was not directly monetary. I wanted to create a small collection of NFTs to have my own portfolio of creations, and offer this service on different freelance platforms. When I minted them in OpenSea, of course I put a selling price on them, just in case someone is interested in having a Crypto Alfi. I named the collection "Crypto Alfies", they are 50 "Alfies", unique NFTs designed entirely by me. It was a nice experience to complement the design world with the crypto world. My project is very small and humble, but I'm still very happy to have made it happen, I have my own NFT collection on OpenSea!
