Hi all Hivers,
If you have the opportunity to visit Hanoi - Vietnam, you should explore Hoa Lo prison located on Hoa Lo street. This place held many political prisoners during the first half of the 20th century when Vietnam was still in the war. Surely this exciting destination will impress you with its mystery, history and solemnity
Hoa Lo Prison was built in 1896 when Vietnam was in the feudal period and about to enter a war with France. At this time, there are many young people who want to liberate the country and find ways to oppose the enemy. However, unlucky, they were caught in this prison and severely beaten
They are very young people from 17 to 40 years old. They are both male and female. We call them heroes. Even though they were tortured a lot, they still had a dream to escape from here
The living conditions in the prison were very difficult and poor. They have to live on the spot, living in a dark and cramped room of only 20 square meters. About 20 people were detained in the same room. The food provided to them is very little, many people faint from lack of energy, they never exceed 50 pounds
Since 1973, it has become a historical relic that many people visit. I was very impressed when I visited Hoa Lo and walked into the dark prison cells where there were statues of former prisoners. It also keeps and displays many antiquities such as ancient bowls or prison uniforms. Hoa Lo Prison is named "Maison Central" after the French. The architecture is very special with stone walls so winter here is very cold
At Hoa Lo prison, there is an eagletree, so young fruit or leaves are the dishes of prisoners to help them regain their energy.
We admire them very much and are proud of our country's history. Brave and strong-willed prisoners have helped us today to be independent and free. They sacrificed a lot so that we can have a peaceful life today
They played the piano and play football on major festivals. Despite the difficult situation, they are still full of optimism and strong will
At the end of August, the US Deputy Prime Minister visited Hoa Lo Prison, marking the cooperation relationship between Vietnam and the US. I hope each of us remembers our roots and history to appreciate life more
Thank you so much for reading my post. Wish you a day full of hapiness!
