Index4INDEX Card 185: Mary Kay Ash

If you think you can, you can. And if you think you can't, you're right.

-- Mary Kay Ash

About the Quote

Whatever we think about something which requires action is true. If we think we can do something, no matter the ease or difficulty, then we can do it and get it done. If we think we cannot do something, then we won't do it and it won't get done. Both thoughts about some action were different, and in both cases they were true.

This is why we have to be careful with the thoughts and ideas we feed our minds and brains. Even for something which is outside our comfort zones and a difficult undertaking under any circumstances, we need to believe that we can handle that task and get it done successfully. It's how we grow as people.

What happens if we feed our minds and brains with garbage and thoughts of failure? We fail in ways which don't provide a path to future success. These sorts of failure reinforce negative habits and negative mental programming.

If we're going to spend time and energy and effort in thinking about something which needs to be done, we may as well think thoughts which lead to success and accomplishment.
