Picasso's Mother and Child by the Sea

Went into Hiroshima city centre with the Mrs today to go and see a Picasso exhibition at the Hiroshima Museum of Art.

I was particularly taken by this Blue Period painting of a mother and child by the sea; it is as if Picasso has placed the Madonna and Child by the Sea of Galilee. It also seemed to have something tarot-like in its design, as if the boat in the Rider-Waite Six of Swords had reached the shore.

While the Mrs was looking around, I had a pleasant break on a bench in the cloister of the museum, enjoying the rain and the peace and quiet. That peace will be shattered in a few days time when the G7 Summit will be held in Hiroshima...
