With this post I would like to give a brief instruction on the topic mentioned in the subject

Present Continuous
The Present Continuous is a verb tense in English grammar. It is usually studied after learning the Present Simple, the verb tense of the simplest English grammar.
It is usually used to describe actions that are happening at the moment of speaking. It is also used to indicate temporary or future actions already planned.
Below I list the main cases in which the Present Continuous verb tense is used.
-Action in progress at the present moment
-Temporary action
-Future plans or events
-Trends or changes
Formation rules
We use am/are/is + Verb with -ing at the end of the verb.
An example below with the tricks in bold that are needed to construct the Present Continuous
I - am - studying mathematics this semester.
They - are - studying mathematics this semester.
Forms of the Present Continuous
There are 3 forms of the Present Continuous:
Affirmative form
Composed of -> subject + verb "to be" (am/are/is) + verb with "-ing".
Example: They are working at the moment.
Negative form
Composed of -> subject + verb "to be" + "not" + verb with "-ing".
Example: They aren’t working at the moment.
Interrogative form
Composed of -> verb "to be" + subject + verb with "-ing".
Example: Are they working at the moment?
Below is the same sentence with the three forms, affirmative, negative and interrogative one after the other.
Affirmative = They are working at the moment.
Negative = They aren’t working at the moment
Interrogative = Are they working at the moment?
Example
Let’s now try an example. If we want to tell someone that a friend of ours is watching an interesting film we absolutely must use the Present Continuous verb form because it is an action in progress at the current moment, that is, it is happening while we are speaking. So this case is one of the four in which the Present Continuous is used.
Let’s now look at the construction of the affirmative sentence with the form that identifies the Present Continuous in bold.
Affirmative sentence:
She is watching** an interesting film.
Now let’s move on to the construction of the negative sentence which will be as follows.
Negative sentence:
She isn’t watching** an interesting film.
and finally we transform this sentence into an interrogative form always putting in bold what identifies the Present Continuous.
Interrogative sentence:
Is she watching an interesting film?
Comparison between Present Continuous and Present Simple
Let's consider describing two things:
1-we want to tell someone that it's raining now. This situation will fall into the Present Continuous verb form because it is something that is happening at the moment we are speaking.
2-Let's consider that I want to convey to a friend of ours that, where we live, it doesn't rain much during the summer.
Below I report case 1 and 2 in which we will have to use the Present Continuous in case 1 and the Present Simple in case 2.
1-It’s raining now.
2-It doesn’t rain too much in summer.
Conclusions
The Present Continuous is a verb tense in English grammar used to describe actions that are happening at the moment we are speaking.
Question
While you are having a conversation in English, do you sometimes forget that the sentence you are saying should actually have been constructed with the Present Continuous and instead you use the Present Simple?

Present Continuous
Il Present Continuous è un tempo verbale della grammatica inglese. Solitamente viene studiato dopo aver appreso il Present Simple, il tempo verbale della grammatica inglese più semplice.
Solitamente viene usato per descrivere azioni che stanno avvenendo nel momento in cui si parla. Viene usato anche per indicare azioni temporanee o future già pianificate.
Qui di seguito metto in elenco i casi principali in cui viene usato il tempo verbale Present Continuous.
-Azione in corso nel momento attuale
-Azione temporanea
-Piani o eventi futuri
-Tendenze o cambiamenti
Regole di formazione
Si usano am/are/is + Verbo con la -ing nella parte finale del verbo.
Un esempio qui sotto con in grassetto gli accorgimeneti che servono per costruire il Present Continuous
I - am - studying mathematics this semester.
They - are - studying mathematics this semester.
Forme del Present Continuous
Le forme del Present Continuous sono 3:
Forma affermativa
Composta da -> soggetto + verbo "to be" (am/are/is) + verbo con "-ing".
Esempio: They are working at the moment.
Forma negativa
Composta da -> soggetto + verbo "to be" + "not" + verbo con "-ing".
Esempio: They aren’t working at the moment.
Forma interrogativa
Composta da -> verbo "to be" + soggetto + verbo con "-ing".
Esempio: Are they working at the moment?
Qui di seguito la stessa frase con le tre forme, affermativa, negativa ed interrogativa una di seguito all'altra.
Affermativa = They are working at the moment.
Negativa = They aren’t working at the moment
Interrogativa = Are they working at the moment?
Esempio
Proviamo ora a fare un esempio. Se vogliamo dire a qualcuno che una nostra amica sta guardando un film interessante dobbiamo assolutamente usare la forma verbale del Present Continuous perché è un'azione in corso nel momento attuale, cioè sta avvenendo mentre stiamo parlando. Quindi questo caso è uno dei quattro in cui si usa il Present Continuous.
Andiamo ora a vedere la costruzione della frase affermativa con in grassetto la forma che identifica il Present Continuous.
Frase affermativa:
She is watching an interesting film.
Ora passiamo alla costruzione della frase negativa che sarà come segue.
Frase negativa:
She isn’t watching an interesting film.
ed infine trasformiamo questa frase in forma interrogativa mettendo sempre in grassetto ciò che identifica il Present Continuous.
Frase interrogativa:
Is she watching an interesting film?
Comparazione tra Present Continuous e Present Simple
Prendiamo in considerazione di descrivere due cose:
1-vogliamo dire a qualcuno che attualmente sta piovendo. Questa situazione ricadrà nella forma verbale del Present Continuous perché è qualcosa che sta avvenendo nel momento in cui parliamo.
2-Prendiamo in considerazione che voglia trasferire ad una nostra amica che, dove abitiamo noi, non piove molto durante l'estate.
Qui di seguito riporto il caso 1 e 2 in cui dovremo usare nel caso 1 il Present Continuous e nel caso 2 il Present Simple.
1-It’s raining now.
2-It doesn’t rain too much in summer.
Conclusioni
Il Present Continuous è un tempo verbale della grammatica inglese usato per descrivere azioni che stanno avvenendo nel momento in cui stiamo parlando.

Mentre fate conversazione in inglese vi capita a volte di non prendere in considerazione che la frase che state dicendo in realtà doveva essere costruita con il Present Continuous ed invece usate il Present Simple?
