Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

La serie è stata integralmente rilasciata da Prime Video qualche giorno fa ma oggi mi presento a voi con un canonico post di first impression sul pilot.
Lo so, alcuni di voi l'han vista tutta e altri blog ne hanno già parlato integralmente ma non si può avere tutto, mancavano 7 ore per finire lo show (che sicuramente terminerò) ed in questo momento non ne avevo abbastanza.
Tenendoci, comunque, ad offrirvi un primo commento per cui, eccoci qui con le prime impressioni.

In realtà, credo di avervi già detto molto (ma come?; direte voi; ci hai solo indicato il protagonista, il regista, il genere e la piattaforma!).
La vostra reazione, che ho messo tra parentesi, non sarebbe sbagliata ma, al tempo stesso, neppure la mia affermazione.
Provo a spiegarmi meglio.
The Terminal List è una serie che fa esattamente quello che vi potreste aspettare da una serie spy-action con un buon protagonista come Chris Pratt, un ottimo regista come Anthony Fuqua, una piattaforma che di solito fa le cose per bene come Amazon e via discorrendo.
Se, dunque, avete voglia di una serie con molta azione, del sano cospirazionismo, una buona dose di retorica filo americana tutta coraggio, libertà e grandiosità (ma piena zeppa di dietro le quinte, scenari alternativi, poteri forti e presunti tradimenti), un filo di spionaggio ed un ritmo che avanza abbastanza gradevolmente, allora The Terminal List rappresenta un approdo non solo sicuro ma anche confortevole e rinfrescante.
Se vi aspettate il nuovo prestige drama o qualcosa di più rilassante, magari con qualche venatura leggera, se non addirittura comica, state sbagliando. The Terminal List non è quel tipo di serie.
Siete, dunque, alla ricerca di un bell'action, tosto, veloce e pieno zeppo di misteri, drammi personali, movimento, intrighi, omicidi, insabbiamenti? Se la risposta è si, andrete a colpo sicurissimo perchè questo show vi offrirà esattamente questo e ve lo offrirà ai massimi livelli.
Qualche nota aggiuntiva sulla trama iniziale: Chris Pratt è un capitano dei Navy Seal che guida il suo team in una missione delicatissima e top secret in medio oriente. Qualcosa va storto e tutta la sua squadra, o quasi tutta, verrà uccisa in un'imboscata.
Al rientro in patria, però, troverà qualcosa di sospetto e strano ad attenderlo.

Adorato prima da una grossa nicchia seriale grazie a Parks And Recreation, quasi idolatrato per il suo ruolo scanzonato ne I Guardiani della Galassia, Pratt gode oggi di un credito sconfinato.
In questo show, però, conferma un sospetto che avevo da tempo. Non siamo di fronte nè ad un grande attore, nè ad un caratterista, nè ad un Jason Statham nato e cresciuto per vivere di quel tipo di film.
Mi è sembrato ingessato, poco duttile e molto piatto nella sua interpretazione.
Il fisico e lo standing per vestire i panni di quel personaggio, ci sono tutti.
Per il resto bisogna lavorarci su.

As usual, today I am bringing you inside a new Preview of an article that in a few days or weeks you will see In the Mind of a SerialFiller, my blog entirely focused on the world of TV series and of which, for the past few months, I have decided to constantly give you, in advance of what I will publish, most of the posts you will see at www.serialfiller.org.

Do you miss some of the action?

Is pacing and tension all you crave in a TV series?

Are Guardians of the Galaxy what it is mainly because of Chris Pratt?

Answering NO to the last question I asked (The Guardians of the Galaxy are what they are mainly because of the genius of James Gunn in my opinion), I'm going to introduce you to The Terminal List, the latest mama Amazon (or papa Amazon, you name it) baby that is shaking the Prime Video tree in these dry days.
The absolute star is Chris Pratt, who takes on the role of an athletic, brave Navy Seal captain.
Directing is a guarantee Antony Fuqua, who, no matter what happens, we will always remember for being the creator and director of Training Day, a badass movie from over 20 years ago (my...it's been 21 years already!) starring Denzel Washington.
The genre is predominantly action but nothing prohibits that, within the show you can find shades of pure drama and a few drops of spy.
The series was fully released by Prime Video a few days ago but today I present myself to you with a canonical first impression post about the pilot.
I know, some of you have seen it in its entirety and other blogs have already talked about it in its entirety but you can't have it all, I was 7 hours away from finishing the show (which I will definitely finish) and right now I didn't have enough.
Keeping, however, to offer you a first commentary so here we are with first impressions.

Actually, I think I have already told you a lot (but how?; you will say; you have only pointed us to the main character, the director, the genre and the platform!).
Your reaction, which I put in parentheses, would not be wrong but, at the same time, neither would my statement.
Let me try to explain further.
The Terminal List is a series that does exactly what you might expect from a spy-action series with a good protagonist like Chris Pratt, a great director like Anthony Fuqua, a platform that usually does things right like Amazon, and so on.
If, then, you are in the mood for a series with plenty of action, some healthy conspiracy, a good dose of pro-American rhetoric all bravery, freedom and grandeur (but chock-full of behind-the-scenes, alternative scenarios, strong powers and alleged betrayals), a thread of espionage and a pace that moves along quite pleasantly, then The Terminal List represents not only a safe but also a comfortable and refreshing landing place.
If you are expecting the new prestige drama or something more relaxing, perhaps with some light, if not comic, veins, you are mistaken. The Terminal List is not that kind of series.
Are you, then, looking for a good action, badass, fast-paced and chock-full of mysteries, personal drama, movement, intrigue, murder, cover-ups? If the answer is yes, you're going to hit the jackpot because this show will offer you exactly that and deliver it at the highest level.
A few additional notes on the initial plot: Chris Pratt is a Navy Seal captain leading his team on a highly sensitive, top-secret mission in the Middle East. Something goes wrong and his entire team, or most of them, will be killed in an ambush.
Upon returning home, however, he will find something suspicious and strange waiting for him.
The tension rises, the pace too, the mayhem increases.
It closes with a bang and with terrifying momentum relative to the events that occurred.
About Chris Pratt, however, I want to say one thing.
He is a very overrated actor in my opinion.
Adored first by a large serial niche thanks to Parks And Recreation, almost idolized for his lighthearted role in The Guardians of the Galaxy, Pratt now enjoys boundless credit.
In this show, however, he confirms a suspicion I have long had. We are facing neither a great actor, nor a character actor, nor a Jason Statham born and bred to make a living from those kinds of films.
He seemed to me plastered, unpolished, and very flat in his performance.
The physique and standing to inhabit the shoes of that character are all there.
The rest needs work.
First impression concluded.
Go in peace.
But first, read my ratings of the series pilot.
