Come di consueto oggi vi porto dentro una nuova Anteprima di un articolo che fra qualche giorno o settimana vedrete Nella Mente di un SerialFiller, il mio blog interamente incentrato sul mondo delle serie tv e di cui, da qualche mese, ho deciso di regalarvi costantemente, in anticipo su quello che pubblicherò, gran parte dei post che vedrete su www.serialfiller.org.

C'è un cast di primissimo piano nella nuova serie Apple. Cosa aspettate a recuperarla? Cosa aspettate a leggere questo post?

Ho da poco iniziato a recuperare We Crashed, serie che ha esordito lo scorso 18 Marzo sulla piattaforma streaming della casa di Cupertino.
Vi parlerò, dunque, del pilot, nel più classico dei first impression che, credo, oramai abbiate imparato a conoscere, e spero ad apprezzare.
Il cast è quello che è e basta vedere in azione Leto ed Hathaway per convincersi, dopo pochi minuti, che ne vale la pena, ne varrà la pena di esserci ed assistere all'evolversi della vicenda.
Subito un'osservazione sulla Catwoman della trilogia di Nolan.
Da un paio di anni la Hathaway si è "spostata" in tv.
Prima con Modern Love, poi con Solos.
Ora con We Crashed.
Sarà un caso?
Una decina di anni fa questa scelta avrebbe decretato la fine della propria carriera cinematografica e l'attrice avrebbe risentito di tutto ciò divenendo una professionista in cerca di altre sfide in mancanza di appeal sul grande schermo.
Oggi questo non è più vero e potrebbe essere che questa scelta rappresenti un modo per essere ancora più incisiva, ancora più protagonista nell'ampliato mondo dello spettacolo, a 360°.
Non è un caso se, sia in Solos che in Modern Love, entrambi show antologici, furono proprio gli episodi con la Hathaway ad incidere, ad essere ricordati, ad essere maggiormente apprezzati, segno che, quando la classe è messa al servizio di uno script, tutto può funzionare, anche quando lo script non è di livello assoluto.
Con We Crashed sembra ripetersi lo stesso schema. Copione non di primissimo livello ma esaltato da una grande attrice ed un grande attore.
Jared Leto, dalla sua, è più o meno all'esordio sul piccolo schermo.
Nonostante sia uno dei volti più noti del cinema, devo ammettere che, vuoi per l'accento, vuoi per la postura, vuoi per il look, per larghi tratti si è fatto fatica a riconoscerlo, segno ulteriore del suo istrionismo al quale ci ha abituato a lungo durante la sua carriera cinematografica, ed aggiungerei in quella musicale con i 30 Second to Mars.
Venendo allo show, invece, la storia non è di quelle che mai avete visto passare al cinema o in tv.
Adam è un giovane, ma non giovanissimo, "entrepreneur". Trasferitosi da Israele sino alla grande mela, egli ha un ego ed una confidence smisurati. Progetta scarpe, idea ginocchiere per bambini, sogna spazi di coworking e cohousing pioneristici.
Per poter "mettere a terra" tali idee ha, però, bisogno di finanziamenti.
Nessuno crede in lui sino al punto da fornirgli la big opportunity.
Il motivo dei reiterati respingimenti e dei fallimenti glielo svelerà Rebekah, donna della quale si innamorerà a prima vista e la quale, durante uno dei primi incontri amorosi, svelerà lui quale potrebbe essere la causa dei fallimenti di cui sopra.
Adam Neuman è brillante, frenetico, una forza della natura, ma Adam non ha cuore, ha solo passione. Dove è l'anima dei suoi progetti? In cosa crede davvero Adam? Cosa gli genera felicità? Perchè le sue idee dovrebbero travolgerci?
Quella scintilla sarà il propulsore per consentire ad Adam il grande salto.
Quelle idee diverranno Adam stesso, Adam diverrà quelle idee.
Un tocco magico e per Adam le porte del successo si apriranno.
E' una storia molto lineare e classica quella che viene raccontata, che mai si discosta dai topoi del genere.
Giovane brillante prova la scalata. Trova l'amore. Comincia la scalata. Diventa un re. Il re verrà abbattuto. Il re non vorrà essere detronizzato. Nasce una nuova sfida, ancora più grande della precedente.
Il filone Hi Tech, manageriale, imprenditoriale è sempre più utilizzato dagli autori seriali. A volte nascono prodotti di grido, altre volte delle ciofeche.
We Crashed, per adesso, si inserisce nel mezzo, non riuscendo ad essere incisivo come vorrebbe ma potendo contare su un ritmo notevole e 2 interpreti favolosi.
Il paradigma resta sempre Halt And Catch Fire, serie cult che in pochi conoscono ma che, a mio avviso, resta una pietra miliare del genere e non solo.
Riuscirà We Crashed a scalare quella montagna?

There is a top cast in the new Apple series. What are you waiting for to catch up on it? What are you waiting for to read this post?

I recently started to catch up with We Crashed, a series that debuted on March 18 on the streaming platform of the house of Cupertino.
I will speak, therefore, the pilot, in the classic first impression that, I think, by now you have learned to know, and I hope to appreciate.
The cast is what it is and it's enough to see Leto and Hathaway in action to be convinced, after a few minutes, that it's worth it, it will be worth it to be there and watch the story unfold.
Immediately an observation on the Catwoman of Nolan's trilogy.
For a couple of years now, Hathaway has "moved" to TV.
First with Modern Love, then with Solos.
Now with We Crashed.
Is this a coincidence?
A decade ago this choice would have decreed the end of her film career and the actress would have been affected by all this, becoming a professional looking for other challenges in the absence of appeal on the big screen.
Today this is no longer true and it could be that this choice represents a way to be even more incisive, even more protagonist in the enlarged world of entertainment, at 360°.
It is no coincidence that in both Solos and Modern Love, both anthology shows, it was the episodes with Hathaway that made their mark, that were remembered and appreciated the most, a sign that when class is put at the service of a script, everything can work, even when the script is not of the highest level.
With We Crashed seems to repeat the same pattern. A script not of the highest level but enhanced by a great actress and a great actor.
Jared Leto, on his side, is more or less at the debut on the small screen.
Despite being one of the best known faces in the cinema, I must admit that, either for the accent, for the posture, or for the look, for large stretches it was hard to recognize him, further sign of his histrionics to which he has accustomed us for a long time during his film career, and I would add in the musical one with 30 Seconds to Mars.
Coming to the show, however, the story is not one that you've ever seen in the cinema or on TV.
Adam is a young, but not very young, "entrepreneur". Having moved from Israel to the Big Apple, he has a huge ego and confidence. He designs shoes, conceives knee pads for children, dreams of pioneering coworking and cohousing spaces.
In order to "ground" these ideas, however, he needs funding.
No one believes in him to the point of giving him the big opportunity.
The reason for his repeated rejections and failures will be revealed to him by Rebekah, a woman with whom he will fall in love at first sight and who, during one of his first love affairs, will reveal to him what could be the cause of his failures.
Adam Neuman is brilliant, frenetic, a force of nature, but Adam has no heart, he only has passion. Where is the soul of his projects? What does Adam really believe in? What generates happiness for him? Why should his ideas overwhelm us?
That spark will be the driving force to allow Adam to take the big leap.
Those ideas will become Adam himself, Adam will become those ideas.
One magic touch and for Adam the doors of success will open.
It's a very linear and classic story that is told, which never deviates from the topoi of the genre.
Brilliant young man tries the climb. He finds love. He begins the climb. He becomes a king. King will be brought down. The king will not want to be dethroned. A new challenge is born, even greater than the previous one.
The Hi Tech, managerial, entrepreneurial strand is increasingly used by serial authors. Sometimes they come up with great products, other times with crap products.
We Crashed, for now, fits in the middle, failing to be as incisive as it would like but relying on a remarkable pace and 2 fabulous performers.
The paradigm remains always Halt And Catch Fire, cult series that few people know but that, in my opinion, remains a milestone in the genre and not only.
Will We Crashed be able to climb that mountain?
