There are a lot of things we wished we had done some years ago, friendship we would have cherished, love we would have given, opportunities we would have seized, and decisions we would have taken. Everyone has regrets at one point or another in their lives, it seems everything becomes clearer as we advance in life, we start to know the reason behind everything and why it was so important that we should have done it. Though regrets help us awake from our slumber to take charge of our life and opportunity, it's never a thing to keep holding on to, because it only shows us that which we have missed but fail to show us the opportunities that lie ahead of us. We often say things like " I wish I had learned that job, I wish I had cherished his friendship, I wished I showed love to my dad, friend, relative, or stranger, etc." We keep wishing it had happened differently.

I first heard the statement "I wish I could turn back the hands of time" from a friend. At that point he regretted certain actions he had taken and was wishing for a chance to make amends . The truth is, a mistake can never be undone, what has happened as happened, the pain from the consequences of our actions is what haunts us. There are many things I wished I had done, or done better or did not do at all. But deep within me I know it can't be erased, and wishing the hands of time can be changed would not come through, so, I find a better way to amend the past and that's by avoiding such a mistake the second time.

Life is short, you can't live all of your life blaming yourself for the things that you've done. Ahead of your past and present is your future which matters the most. Keep the past behind and pursue the future with the knowledge of the past, allow yourself to grow out of that dungeon of stagnation caused by regrets. Focus on things ahead, aim for the better and don't crowd your mind with things you should have done, now is the second best time to do whatever you would have done 10 or 20 years ago. Don't allow your shallow thinking mind trick you into believing that you've lost all, or the saying that opportunity comes but one envelope your thoughts. As long as there's life, there's hope, all that's required of you is to put the past behind you and believe that the future is brighter and greater than your yesterday and today.
