My Final Choice
After months and months of attempts and strategies that got me nowhere, with my collection now officially doomed to be used in the Silver League, having lost all hope of being able to slowly bring myself up to Gold League standards, here I am finally coming to an acceptable point of equilibrium in my journey on Splinterlands.
As I had already described in some of my previous posts, in recent months I have made the decision to cease all activity in ranked matches and to devote myself, instead, solely to brawls.
At the same time, however, in order to accumulate as many Soulbound cards as I could, I began to explore the dark world of bots, trying first a free one (here and here) and then a paid and pretty darned strong one (here).
The cost of the last bot I tried, however, was quite prohibitive, especially given the modest earnings it would generate using my collection, so my choice fell on a third bot, again subject to payment but with a lower cost.
For just under 30 Swap.Hive, I thus grabbed a token of Archmage, a bot that works in a very similar way to the previous one I had tried: games are played remotely, thus requiring no installations or devices to be left on, and 35% of the SPSs earned by my account are paid as fee for the usage of the bot.
For now, I am happy with this purchase, although I find both the interface and the perfomances of Archmage surely inferior to those of Xbot, which, as I had pointed out in my post about it, had been able to maintain very high winrates even at the top of the Silver League standings.
Archmage, by comparison, seems to be struggling a bit... the results, however, remain quite good, also because, thanks to all the changes introduced in recent months, my collection can't go much farer and, to be honest, all the strenght of Xbot was probably wasted in my case.
Waiting for more news - like the final banning of bots that maybe one day will come - I am finally able to say that I am satisfied with my situation on Splinterlands.
Of course, a sour aftertaste remains in my mouth, because my goals were initially very different.... it's almost ironic, however, to consider how, ultimately, all the measures taken by Splinterlands in the last year or so - officially adopted to counteract bots - have had the side effect of crushing my chances of growth... while finally, to really counteract bots, the only action that should always have been taken was done a few days ago, i.e., banning their use.
Well, finally I might add... just a pity for those thousands and thousands of small players who, amidst thousands of measures that were taken while waiting to do the right and proper one, were gradually cut off from a game that, even today, struggles to understand that the success of a video game is determined solely and only by the number of players that populate it.

La Mia Scelta Finale
Dopo mesi e mesi di tentativi e strategie che non mi hanno portato da nessuna parte, con la mia collezione che ormai è ufficialmente destinata ad essere utilizzata nella Lega Argento, avendo perso ogni speranza di potermi piano piano adeguare agli standard della Lega Oro, ecco che finalmente sono giunto ad un punto di equilibrio accettabile nel mio percorso su Splinterlands.
Come avevo già descritto in alcuni miei post precedenti, in questi ultimi mesi ho preso la decisione di cessare ogni attività nelle partite classificate per dedicarmi, invece, solamente alle brawls.
Al contempo, però, al fine di accumulare quante più carte Soulbound possibili, ho cominciato ad esplorare l'oscuro mondo dei bot, provandone dapprima una gratuito (qui e qui) e poi uno a pagamento e dannatamente forte (qui).
Il costo dell'ultimo bot provato era però abbastanza proibitivo, soprattutto alla luce dei modesti guadagni che lo stesso avrebbe generato utilizzando la mia collezione, per cui la mia scelta è ricaduta su un terzo bot, sempre a pagamento, ma dal costo più basso.
Con poco meno di 30 Swap.Hive mi sono così portato a casa un token di Archmage, un bot dal funzionamento molto simile al precedente che avevo provato: le partite sono giocate da remoto, senza quindi bisogno di installazioni o dispositivi da lasciare accesi, ed il 35% degli SPS guadagnati dal mio account vengono pagati quale commissione per l'utilizzo del bot.
Per ora sono soddisfatto di questo acquisto, anche se trovo sia l'interfaccia che le perfomances di Archmage sicuramenti inferiori a quelle di Xbot, il quale, come avevo evidenziato nel mio post a riguardo, era stato capace di mantenere winrates altissimi anche ai vertici della classifica della Lega Argento.
Archmage, a confronto, sembra star faticando maggiormente... i risultati, tuttavia, restano pienamente soddisfacenti, anche perchè, grazie a tutte le modifiche introdotte in questi mesi, la mia collezione non può spingersi tanto più in là e, ad essere onesti, tutta la potenza di Xbot era probabilmente anche sprecata nel mio caso.
In attesa di ulteriori novità - come il definitivo ban dei bot che magari un giorno arriverà - posso perciò finalmente dirmi soddisfatto della mia situazione su Splinterlands.
Certo, in bocca mi resta un retrogusto amaro, perchè i miei obiettivi erano inizialmente molto diversi... è quasi ironico tuttavia pensare come, alla fine, tutti i provvedimenti presi da Splinterlands nell'ultimo anno circa - ufficialmente adottati per contrastare i bot - abbiano avuto l'effetto collaterale di stroncare le mie possibilità di crescita... mentre poi, per contrastare davvero i bot, è stata qualche giorno fa fatta l'unica cosa che da sempre doveva essere fatta, ossia bandirne l'uso.
Bene, finalmente aggiungerei io... peccato solo per quelle migliaia e migliaia di piccoli giocatori che, in mezzo a mille provvedimenti presi nell'attesa di fare la cosa giusta, sono stati via via tagliati fuori da un gioco che, ancora oggi, fatica a capire che il successo di un videogioco è determinato solo e soltanto dal numero di giocatori che lo popola.
