Justo ayer terminé de leerme "Espejos", del excelente autor Eduardo Galeano. Su lectura fue un viaje magistral que me llevó explorar la rica diversidad de la historia de la humanidad. Narrativa poética, reflexiones profundas, Galeano me hizo viajar por los rincones oscuros y luminosos de nuestro pasado y presente.
Just yesterday I finished reading "Espejos", by the excellent author Eduardo Galeano. Reading it was a masterful journey that led me to explore the rich diversity of human history. Poetic narrative, deep reflections, Galeano made me travel through the dark and luminous corners of our past and present.
Tengo que confesar que no soy amante de la lectura, por lo que me ayudó un montón la estructura del libro. Dividido en breves relatos que revelan las múltiples facetas de la historia humana. Desde los sueños y la ingenuidad de los pueblos indígenas hasta las luchas contra la opresión y la búsqueda incansable de la libertad de los pueblos del mundo. Su punto de vista de latinoamericano enriquece la historia que cuenta.
En el corazón del libro late el pueblo latinoamericano, ese al que Galeano representa. Cosa que demuestra con la frase extraida del libro:
"Las venas abiertas de América Latina siguen derramando sangre".
I have to confess that I am not a lover of reading, so the structure of the book helped me a lot. Divided into short stories that reveal the many facets of human history. From the dreams and naivety of the indigenous peoples to the struggles against oppression and the tireless search for freedom of the peoples of the world. His Latin American point of view enriches the story he tells.
At the heart of the book beats the Latin American people, whom Galeano represents. Something he demonstrates with the phrase extracted from the book:
"The open veins of Latin America continue to spill blood".
Él nos motiva a enfrentar nuestra historia y cuestionar las estructuras de poder que han perecido a lo largo del tiempo.
Leer Espejos me ha impactado profundamente. Nunca antes un libro había logrado despertarme una mezcla de emociones, indignación, esperanza. A través de las historias que relata, aprendí que el pasado no es un hecho aislado, sino un reflejo de nuestras acciones y decisiones presentes. Me hizo reflexionar sobre la importancia de conocer y aprender de nuestra historia para poder construir las próximas generaciones con una base de equidad. Disfruté un montón sentarme en mi terraza cada tarde a leer este libro.
