Sabéis que la ría se diferencia de los ríos porque tienen mareas, el mar sube y baja por su cauce.

This photograph is taken at low tide in the estuary of my city.
You know that the estuary differs from rivers because they have tides, the sea rises and falls through its channel.
Antiguamente los barcos atracaban en sus laderas y estos postes corroídos por los años y el salitre hacían de embarcadero.
Formerly the ships docked on its slopes and these posts corroded by the years and the saltpeter served as a pier.
Ahora solo se ven en mareas bajas, cuando el agua se retira y deja al descubierto, la vieja historia de otra época y de otra forma de construcción.
Now they are only seen at low tides, when the water recedes and reveals the old story from another era and another form of construction.
