Their names are Jorge and Christelle, both are the creators of The Raw Society, where they promote, educate and create a community focused on street, documentary and travel photography. These are them, I dared to take pictures of them and everyone in general at the meeting, you can also see their work on their instagrams.
Hola a todos, esta es mi entrada al concurso #monomad.
Hace un par de días me invitaron a una reunión para fotógrafos que se especialicen o gusten por el documentalismo y me imaginaba una reunión entre amigos mas que algo serio la verdad. Pero resulta ser que fue una charla junto a una pareja de fotógrafos, pareja tanto en el arte como en la vida, que trabajan para National Geographic y que poseen un negocio que seguro le gustará a muchos en esta comunidad.Ellos se llaman Jorge y Christelle, ambos son los creadores de The Raw Society, donde promocionan, educan y crean una comunidad enfocada en la fotografía callejera, documental y de viaje. Estos son ellos, yo me atreví a hacerles fotos y a todos en general en la reunión, también pueden ver sus trabajos en sus instagrams.
At the beginning of the meeting each of us introduced ourselves, talking about what we do as photographers, our hobbies in photography and how we got into this world. Then we saw a presentation where we presented the work of each photographer at the meeting so that the guests could see the quality of our work, through 3 photos of each of us. I am going to leave below the images that I presented.
AL inicio de la reunión cada uno de nosotros nos presentamos, hablando sobre que hacemos como fotógrafos, nuestras aficiones dentro de la fotografía y como llegamos a este mundo. Luego vimos una presentación donde se presentó el trabajo de cada fotógrafo en la reunión para que los invitados pudieran ver la calidad de nuestros trabajos, mediante 3 fotos de cada uno de nosotros. Les voy a dejar a continuación las imágenes que yo presenté.
From then on it was a constant exchange of questions and experiences between them and us. We heard many stories that anyone as a photographer would love to know and even key points of documentary or street photography, such as the fact of taking pictures of people in the street without their consent and how protected by law we are in that sense as photographers.
A partir de ahí fue todo un intercambio de preguntas y experiencias constantes entre ellos y nosotros. Se escucharon muchas historias que cualquiera como fotógrafo le encantaría conocer e incluso puntos claves de la fotografía documental o callejera, como el hecho de hacerle fotos a las personas en la calle sin su consentimiento y que tan protegidos por la ley estamos en ese sentido como fotógrafos.
In these last two photos I show how Jorge, one of the founders of The Raw Society, gave us a presentation about one of his works in Nepal for National Geographic. He summarized the work involved, the difficulties that exist, the way they do it and even how the process is from the time the work is created until it is published. The latter can take a minimum of 6 months and in that time you can not show any of that work in any social network or show it anywhere.
I feel very grateful to have been in a meeting of such magnitude and to have been able to learn from two people who have years of work behind them in the type of photography that I like the most. En estas dos ultimas fotos muestro como Jorge, uno de los fundadores de The Raw Society, nos hacia una presentación sobre uno de sus trabajos en Nepal para National Geographic. Nos resumió los trabajos que ello conllevaba, las dificultades que existen, la manera en la que lo realizan e incluso como es el proceso desde que la obra esta creada hasta que es publicada. Esto último puede llevar un tiempo mínimo de 6 meses y en ese tiempo no puedes mostrar nada de ese trabajo en ninguna red social ni mostrarlo si quiera en ningún lugar.
Yo me siento muy agradecido de haber estado en una reunión de tal magnitud y haber podido aprender de dos personas que tienen años de trabajo en sus espaldas en el tipo de fotografía que más me gusta.
