Frosty Morning Herdscape — A Monomad Challenge Entry

Greetings, fellow sentient beings!

This here is my new entry for the daily monomad challenge, take a look at the rules within the link.

It i a herdscape. With a small herd in it. Horses. But they are all situated in the lower part of the frame and the thumbnail might not be showing them. So, thank you for opening the whole image!

Herdscape_Vertical_001_s_BW.jpg

On a morning with both frost on the ground and a steaming water surface.

Camera Settings:

Aperture F 8; Shutter Speed 1/320 sec.; Light Sensitivity ISO 200; Focal Length 135 mm.

Canon EOS 30D with a 70-200 4 L lens.

And a high vantage point.

I shot mostly horizontal images that morning with more zoom and focusing on the steam rising from the water surface of the dam. But every once in a while I decide to spice things up. Literally up. And taking a wider, and at the same time horizontal shot, I wanted to show you the many layers that alternate from the bottom to the top of the frame.

This is also not the perfect example for vertical rhythm as far as Composition is concerned, but a close enough one. The problem is, the foreground disturbs that rhythm. It is too chatty. and some bushes break the horizontal lines of the shades of others. Nature tends to sometimes be chaotic. What can you do?

Except use your power to select a frame and order within that chaos from time to time.

But not today, not today...

Thank you for viewing! Take care!

Yours,

Manol
