Hola amigos de #Hive, les invito a mirar estas fotos y los cortos pie de páginas con los que acostumbro complementarlas... Este es un pueblo extraño, lo mismo puede estar en silencio que aparecer un grupo de personas bailando y cantando en una esquina cualquiera de sus calles... Eso es lo que amo de aquí... Quizás...
"The deceased's street"... Carabobo Avenue is also known as "The deceased's street" due to the old custom of the last century of watching over the deceased in the parish church and then carrying the coffin on shoulders through that street to the local cemetery... Nowadays it is done with certain prominent people of the town, whose life has been very public for whatever reason, but the common people are veiled in their homes and then taken in a funeral car to the cemetery... But this avenue is still "The deceased's street"!... 💀✝️
"La calle de los muertos"... La Avenida Carabobo es también conocida como "La calle de los muertos" debido a la antigua costumbre del siglo pasado de velar a los difuntos en la iglesia parroquial y luego llevar en hombros el féretro mortuorio por esa calle hasta el cementerio local... Hoy en día se hace con ciertas personas prominentes del pueblo, cuya vida haya sido muy publica por cualquier razón, pero el común de las personas es velada en sus casas y luego llevada en un auto funerario al cementerio... ¡Pero esta avenida sigue siendo "la calle de los muertos"!... 💀✝️
"A portrait for my brother".... Manolo Ojeda, a friend I have known from the streets since we used to play in them as kids, stops me and greets me and then asks me to make "a portrait to send to his younger brother (Brian) who migrated to Chile in 2022 in search of better life opportunities... Manolo is only two years older than Brian and they both took care of their elderly mother here, but life is hard here and Brian decided to leave to help with the expenses from outside... That is the story of many families here.
"Un retrato para mi hermano"... Manolo Ojeda, un amigo conocido de las calles desde el pueblo desde que jugábamos cuando niños en ellas, me detiene y me saluda y luego me pide que le haga "un retrato para enviárselo a su hermano menor (Brian) que migró a Chile en 2022 en busca de mejores oportunidades de vida... Manolo es apenas dos años mayor que Brian y ambos cuidaban aquí de su madre anciana, pero la vida esa dura aquí y Brian decidió irse para ayudar desde fuera con los gastos... Esa es la historia de muchas familias aquí.
"We are still out of fuel"... Gasoline and Diesel are still "a scarce commodity" in our country and even more so in provincial towns like this one, so these "delivery bicycles" have a guaranteed long serevice life in the streets... ⛽️📉🚲
"Seguimos sin combustible"... La gasolina y el Gasoil siguen siendo "un bien escaso" en nuestro país y mucho más en los pueblos de provincia como este, así que estas "bicicletas repartidoras" tienen asegurada una larga vida útil en las calles... ⛽️📉🚲
"What are you doing, taking a picture?"... There is nothing better to change the mood than a cat watching me in an old window!.... Sometimes I think these lovely friends are an "integral part" of my photo hobby and I'm even sure I've developed a certain "sixth sense" to know when a cat is watching me.... Isn't this one perfect? 😻
¿Que haces humano, tomándome una foto?... ¡No hay nada mejor para cambiar el animo que un gato observándome en una ventana vieja!... A veces creo que estos encantadores amigos son "parte integral" de mi afición por hacer fotos y hasta estoy seguro que he desarrollado un cierto "sexto sentido" para saber cuando un gato me está mirando... ¿Acaso este no es perfecto? 😻
"Timeless"... Sometimes I'm coming home and I have these scenes in front of me... Then I conclude what, in this town the clock hands sometimes go forward, but other times they go backwards.... (Yes, I know it sounds like I need professional help, but that's also part of my passion for photography)... ⏳
"Atemporal"... A veces voy llegando a mi casa y tengo estas escenas frente a mi... Entonces concluyo qué, en este pueblo las agujas de reloj a veces van hacia adelante, pero otras veces retroceden... (Sí, ya se que suena como que necesito ayuda profesional, pero eso también es parte de mi pasión por la fotografía)...
"First Monday of the year"..." It's funny, but at 7AM on the morning of Monday January 2nd of this year, I had the feeling of living in a science fiction scenario.... The loneliness was overwhelming and the silence in the streets was absolute.... Obviously, it is a day when everyone seems to be recovering from the holidays and sleep too much... Only "The madman with the camera" seems to be wandering around the streets!... 😂📷
"Primer lunes del año"... Es curioso, pero a las 7AM de la mañana del Lunes 2 de Enero de este año, tuve la sensación de estar viviendo en un escenario de ciencia ficción... La soledad apabullaba y el silencio en las calles era absoluto... Obviamente, es un día en el que todos parecen estar recuperándose de los días de fiesta y duermen demás... ¡Solo "El loco de la cámara" parece no parar de deambular por las calles!... 😂📷
"One of these days I'll beat you Jesus".... Quidica Barreto is my neighbor and lifelong friend, my mother is her baptismal godmother and we are the same age.... But she always goes out to buy groceries with her worst face!.... And then I show up and take pictures of her!... 😂😂😂
"Un día de estos te golpearé Jesús"... Quidica Barreto es mi vecina y amiga de toda la vida, mi madre es su madrina de bautismo y somos de la misma edad... ¡Pero ella siempre sale a comprar víveres con su peor facha!... Y entonces ¡Aparezco yo y le hago una foto!... 😂😂😂
"The Zaragozas dance"... As I said, this is a town where you go from silence to noise in a few streets... And on December 28th, groups of people usually wander through the streets singing and playing musical instruments while commemorating the "Day of the Holy Innocents"... A cultural/religious manifestation better known as " The "Zaragozas Dance"...
"El baile de las Zaragozas"... Como dije, este es un pueblo en donde se pasa del silencio al ruido en pocas calles... Y los día 28 de Diciembre suelen deambular por las calles grupos de personas cantando y tocando instrumentos musicales mientras conmemoran el "Día de los Santos Inocentes"... Una manifestación cultural/religiosa mejor conocida como "El baile de las Zaragoza"...
