Mother of thousands

There is a reason why this weed succulent is called Mother of thousands. You start with one small seedling and within an year you have over 100 plants. And I am not exaggerating here.

As the plant grow, each leaf produces dozens of little seedlings. That's the tiny leaves you see on the edges. They detach extremely easily with a tap, fall on the ground and start growing roots. Some start growing tiny roots still attached to the mother leaf.





Yep - every single one of these is a new plants in the making.
The problem is when they start to fall into the pots they are not supposed to grow. After a while you start to pull them from everything around like a true weed.





Some of the little seedlings start to produce their own seedlings already too. Like on the first photo below.

It is a very cool succulent though called Kalanchoe daigremontiana. Besides that it is extremely easy to grow, it has very nice, and large for Kalanchoe type yellow flowers. Handles heat, sun and lack of water.

And the leaves have nice, tigery pattern on the underside. The stripes get more visible during the summer - they are dark purple, almost black.
