Consisting of three rows of statues in alcoves angels at the bottom are appearing to supportthe figures above. Most of the figures of the middle row are thought to represent Kings of Judah. the upper row, to right of centre, is a representation of God seated on his right should be figure of the Virgin Mary but Her image was destroyed in the Reformation and, later, replaced by that of King Richard II. On the upper row are the Apostles, the and Old Testament Prophets. Originally the screen would have been painted a real representation of heaven on earth. For the medieval population of Exeter.

The north door and porch was restored in 2018 by local stonemasons give some idea of how crisp the statues on the west screen would have been and it looks amazing.

Over the centuries the cathedral architecture has changed the two original thick wall Norman towers built in the 1120s gave way to buttresses and windows in the medieval period time to let in more light and find a way to support the longest valeted stone roof ever built.
