Moroccan Truffle
In those dirt-balls the truffles were packed
& hidden from the desert Sun, so that they stay fresh.

In this time I was already heading back to Europe cause my time in Morocco has finished & I needed to go back home to Croatia & my funds were going thin too.
I was driving from Mohammedia towards Tangier accompanied by my friend Markus. His plan was to stay in Rabat.
Anyway, we were not using the highways cause I like more to explore the country. Just few km from Mohammedia some guys were selling something by the road & we stopped to check it out. Unfortunately, we couldn't communicate properly cause we didn't know any Arabic nor French & the Moroccans didn't speak Croatian, English nor Spanish so we didn't buy any of these truffles even thou they were pretty cheap. I don't remember the exact price but when I arrived to Tangier & got the Wi-Fi, I googled "Moroccan truffles" & realized that Morocco really has this special mushroom species which grows underground on the edge of the desert. Very interesting! I usually know & pick more then 35 species of mushrooms in Croatia but I have never heard of Moroccan truffles. Croatian region of Istria is the richest area in the world with black & white truffles but the climate here is pretty different than the one in Morocco so I would never imagine that truffles can grow in the semi-desert. Next time I visit Morocco, I will definitely try their truffles!
