The First Day of Our Travel Journey in Airports and Flight ✈️

Hello everyone 👧.

I've finally had time to write a long post after returning from vacation last week. I'm travelling with my Mum and siblings (Sister and Brother) at Peninsular Malaysia for 6 days and 5 nights. As soon as I return from my travels, I must catch up on my piled-up work. Because of this, I did not have time to write a lengthy post about my trip.

After spending my last day of working in year 2022, I have to wake up early the next day to make sure all is in order before heading to the airport. However, I woke up quite late that morning.

I started packing my luggage at midnight. Afterward, I still had time to do some work before I slept for less than 2 hours. I set my alarm for 6.30am to wake myself up, but in the end, my Mum woke me up at 8.00am after she went to my room. Because of our flight departing at 10.15am, I have to arrive at Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) by 8.30am.

I'm taking my morning bath, washing and drying my hair, and checking to make certain all the necessary things have been packed in my luggage in a hurry. At 9.00am, we (my Mum, Sister and I) finally arrived KKIA with the help of @butwo driving us there by car.

Since there are still 30 minutes left before the counter closes, I plan to drop off our luggage immediately at the drop off luggage counter. Before I do that, my Mum wants to make sure every luggage is properly locked up. I'm using old luggage that my family has shared for over 15 years. Due to my Mum's actions, the zipper of one of the compartments in that luggage suddenly broke down. My Mum started panicking.

Since I did not put my belongings in that part of the luggage compartment, I put the head zip in the middle of the zipper, so the compartment did not open.

While lining up to drop off our luggage, my Mum kept mumbling about my broken zipper luggage. She said she wanted to buy brand-new luggage when we were in Peninsular Malaysia.

After dropping off our luggage, we still had 30 minutes of free time before heading to the boarding zone. My sister took us to McDonald's inside KKIA at first for a light breakfast, but there were many people lining up to place orders. Then, we headed to another restaurant, Old Town Cafe. In that restaurant, there was food on the menu, but the waiter informed me that the kitchen was under renovation at the time and no food could be ordered. We only ordered coffee for our light breakfast.

Finished with our coffee, we proceeded to check in at immigration and then to the boarding zone. When we arrived at the boarding zone, we were just in time to line up for boarding the plane.

It's a 2 hour and 50 minute flight from KKIA to Penang International Airport. I purchased assigned seats in order for my family and I to feel more comfortable sitting next to each other during this long flight.

Because we're only having coffee at KKIA just now, I asked my Mum if she wanted an in-flight meal. She rejected my offer because she doesn't want to feel nauseated after eating on a long hour flight. In spite of that, she bought Firefly's pen as a souvenir from the stewardess instead of food.

As my Mum and Sister slept on the plane, I watched a movie on my mobile phone that I had downloaded at home. During the period when electronic devices were not permitted to be used during the flight, I only took a short nap.

On arrival at Penang International Airport, I was happy to see a sunny day. In contrast to my hometown, Kota Kinabalu, it rains almost every day.

It's 1.30pm after we collected our luggage. We search for restaurant inside Penang International Airport for meal instead outside of airport as my Mum complained she felt her stomach gastric that time.

My last visit to Penang International Airport was in the year 2018. The Nooodles restaurant was a first for me and my Mum. We just chose this restaurant for our meal.

The restaurant serves Asian food. For my meal, I eat Nasi Lemak, while my Mum and Sister have Hong Kong Style Wonton Noodle Soup. This restaurant had a unique concept of large bowls and plates. However, the food portion was not large at all.

We still have a flight to catch at 8.00pm to Langkawi. Our luggage was stored at Penang International Airport luggage storage for 5 hours for a rental fee. Then, we had a stroll at Queensbay Mall Penang to kill the time before our next flight.

I will write more about our visit to Queensbay Mall Penang in my next post.

That's all. Thanks for reading my post 🤗.
