17 Years of Marriage: through Thick and Thin

Hello Hivers and everyone! I would like to share to you our simple celebration, in a simple public place and everything's simple. This is about the most memorable part of my and her life, that happened within the seventeen years of marriage through thick and thin. We keep on reminiscing this day. It's our wedding anniversary. Please come along and I'll begin.

It's dark in our background because it is the part of the Bogo Bay towards the direction of the ocean. We're in the Bogo Pantalan to the extreme end.

The place is so peaceful during that time. By the way, it's December 16, 2023, our wedding anniversary. We were leaning a little bit to the cargo service vehicle of my brother Jon who supported and enjoyed with us in this occasion.

Simple Yet Delicious

I consider these menus as very simple because the budget that we use here is very minimal. It's only good for 15 to 20 persons. Minimal as it is but we just did the best that we can when it comes to the menu. And, of course with some drinks and a little beer for the 5 of us- 'boys'- and some flavored beer for my sweetheart and 7 'girls'...hehe...complete!

Preparing for dinner using the rear of my utility vehicle.

This time, the camera is facing the entrance side of Bogo Pantalan to the direction of the barbecue station.

No problem with seats because we have the built-in concrete sides of the wharf.

So, it's time for dinner! Everybody enjoyed the menus that we've had. But unfortunately, few minutes after we enjoyed our meals and drinks, there was a sudden stormy rain. So, we're forced to leave the place and continued it in the house.

Some Funny Memories amid Calamity

This time, having transfered our venue to the house due to sudden rain and with slight speedy wind, I compared the experience as it happened several years ago. So, please allow me to roll back the time, an unforgettable experience that happened ten years ago.

It happened during the time when we experienced the worst in the Northern part of Cebu, Philippines when Super Typhoon Yolanda or internationally known as Haiyan hit us leaving big trees uprooted or broken and no leaves of trees was left.

Super Typhoon Yolanda hit our locality in the 8th day of November, 2013. It almost dismounted the whole roofing of our house. And what made it worse is we can't buy trapal or ordinary tent roofing because it's primarily the need of everybody to have temporary roof cover. If you've decided to buy, you have to fall in line in the suppliers front with hundreds or even more costumers. So, to make it short, we couldn't buy for our need due to that situation.

So come December 16, 2013, just a month and eight days after the Super typhoon, we wanted to celebrate our anniversary.

By the way, we had our own pig in our backyard during that time that was spared by the calamity. That's why, as a sort of debriefing for us and our relatives and a kind of thanks-giving to our Creator for protecting us amid disaster, we decided to push through with the celebration. We decided to roast the pig or we called it lechon in the Philippines.

During the cooking process for lechon, we encountered a problem. The bamboo pole used to roll the whole pork over the ember or fire suddenly broke! And, the guests arrived! Oh no! So, we find some ways. But, there's no more poles. So, I told the in-charge to chop it to pieces and cook it as paksiw or stewed (I don't know the exact term for paksiw...hehe).

While my uncle who was in-charge was chopping it to pieces, sudden rain poured down on us. Ohh, let's find some ways! I shouted, Run inside the house! But, I forgot that there was no roof and no trapal, so the rain inside the house was stronger than the outside...😂 😆! All those who got inside got wet...Whew! What a strange experience it was!

That was indeed, a very memorable funny moment in the midst of an aftereffects of Yolanda. But, all my photos during this time we're in a memory card of my phone, but unfortunately, it was lost. All that wasn't lost is my memory of the unforgettable moment that happened during our wedding anniversary.

Thank you for reading until here. Thank you for your support. This is @natsve54, signing off❤️.
