Great Sunday, Hivers & Asean Hive Community!
As I mentioned to all of you in my previous blog, Today, me and my family are attending an ACG (Anime, Comics, and Games) event that was held in my hometown.
I'm excited to see all of the costumed creators, artists, cosplayers, gamers, hobbyists, and anime fans in Sandakan;
I was rushing to get ready and in between cooking and preparing myself.
Hobbycon is collaborating with StamaX Club for this event.Naomi Yuma, a cosplayer, will also be joining them!Naomi is among the first few Sabahans signed under Tier One Entertainment Malaysia's "AMPLFY" program.
She is also one of the judges for the Cosplay Competition! As I read from their Facebook page, they will also be bringing a judge and guest, "Ironman," Yohan Charles Jayasuriya, aka DJ Yoe, who is one of my long-lost friends.
THE LIVINGSTONE HOTEL
SANDAKAN, MILE 4.
The Livingstone Hotel in Sandakan, Mile 4, appeared as the venue for the event. It begins from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. My daughter works a half-day, so we can only attend the event in the afternoon. So, we have to wait until she gets home before heading out together.
When we arrived at the location around three o'clock, there were people dressed up everywhere in the lobby. I must admit that the majority of cosplayers are teenagers or high school students. They all appear to be young and cute.
This is my first time attending this kind of event. And everything I see astounds me.I just want to take pictures with each of them, but I must hold my thoughts.
I did manage to take some pictures of the cosplayers. And they're all just waiting for a snap.I must say that, in this event, they know that everybody is going to take their picture or have their picture taken together with them.
They even organize a cosplay competition for those who want to participate, and it is free to join. That is why my friend was invited to be a guest Ironman and judge for the competition.
But only 10 contestants wanted to join the contest. Too bad. I had seen a lot of beautiful cosplay costumes, and they deserve to be on stage. Maybe they just have stage fright or are shy. If only I could join, I would.
Other than cosplayers' costumes, there are also lots of booths for exhibitors. The main official booths are for Hobbycon and Stamax. They also have a few vendors and merchants' booths.
They have Summerjoy, Chiyuki X Michelle Homebake, TT Online Mall, Sakura Neko, Potluck By Katcsy, Monkey Toys, Atelier Tee Design, and Sandakan Hobby booth.
There's even a collectors exhibits on the next hall.
By 4 p.m., they started the cosplay competitions. And the hall was so packed and crowded. As you can see from the video that I posted here, I was standing at the corner of the stage behind the guest judges' table.
By the time the coswalk finished and the judges were discussing who would be the winners, we decided to leave the event without waiting for the result.
But my daughter came with her friends, so we went back on a different ride. She was in a joker suit and make-up, and just imagine her riding in a grab car. The driver would either be shocked or maybe cool enough to take her picture.
As we reach home around 5 p.m., I just go to the kitchen and continue cooking the chicken curry that I started earlier. I must say it's a fantastic experience, and it's inspiring for those who love anime.
This event is designed for those who enjoy hobby collecting. May we see you again in another exciting blog post from me. Have a magnificent Sunday, and take care always.
